Now the way to deal with this for those who havnt bought Dells specials before is this.
Go to the deal page and spec up the system how you want to buy it, remembering to reduce the warranty to minimum first, then take it all the way to checkout and enter the code in the box.
Just around 4 mins to 10AM start trying to checkout, if it errors try again and again until it takes.
If you get errors please do keep trying as I think the server gets overloaded and then when it frees up it will take your order.
Last time I had reports of customers still managing to get through by retrying nearly 1hr after the offer went live.
You may find the deal even sweeter as when reducing the warranty it drops the price further than it should for -£100 to make £299

Good luck!

Dont upgrade the memory! 2048MB 533MHz Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM (2x1024) add £152.75 You gotta be joking Dell!

6 cell battery add £11.75

9 cell battery add £35.25 ouch!

Genuine Windows Vista™ Home Premium - English add £23.50

banned#10
Did I see it right?
Should the coupon code contains '?' ??
#11
where do you enter the coupon code, from the main site?
#12
If MikeT is the OP then trust me, copy the code as it is.
[mod]#13
Thanks Mike

M79KD8J69?28LR Trust me I'm a doctor!

When you have built your dell and go to the checkout pages there is a box for the coupon, follow the "go to deal"
#15
Ooh, tempting this. How powerful is this laptop? As in will it be remotely up to a bit of photoshop or fiddling with video? Or games?

Any point upgrading the processor?

Cheers ;o)

What hardware support do you have to set it to? I don't want the "Collect & Return, 90 Day Service only" option.
#17
Hi there. if you manage to get the £100 reduction in your "basket" with dell, make sure you print off a copy, or save it. I did this & complained through their website that I got the reduction but was unable to go to the "checkout" to complete & dell honoured the price in my "basket". I just had to fax them a copy, although if I had a scanner this would have been easier. also, delivery was really quick ~ 2 days after I paid for it. good luck everyone.
#18
just a thought. cant you get quidco with this aswell??
#19
Is this £100 off code only for this certain laptop model? :?
#20
what's the evalue code as I cant get the link to resolve? ;-)
[mod]#21
T4V set whatever warranty you want but 90 days gets it cheapest of course, the end result will be -£100 of the normal cost.

Its £100 off just this ecode so no chance of another model.

You could try Quidco but I'm sure its in the T&C for this £100 off that its not used in conjunction with any other offer, at your risk really ;-)
ecode from the main dell page is 305-N03155A if you want to try it.

How often do dell do this special???????

This isn't even an AMD movile CPU (Turion) - it's a bog-standard Sempron.

Having said that, you can't ask for much more at this price. Still a great deal for a basic laptop
#25
Does anyone know if this has 4 memory slots, because it would mean removing the 2 512MB cards to upgrade if it only has 2. Thanks....
#26
The £60 delivery is a bit steep.

It will have 2 only.
[mod]#29
2 memory slots only. Its a basic laptop, what do you guys want for under £300.
Delivery is in the price not an extra so its £299 or less delivered for a laptop which will allow you to surf wirelessly and do many other tasks but wont play the latest games.
#30
ok. i got to the point where i can enter the coupon code before saving it in my Saved Items. I entered the code as suggested but it says code has expired. so do i keep adding the code again later or it has already applied?

I thought it seemed incredibly cheap for a laptop with dedicated video RAM.

I take it the Radeon graphics card has 256MB shared (not dedicated) RAM?

Cheers for the deal anyway... 'tis a scorcher indeed!

It isn't 10 am yet...

i think they send it by stretched limo :p
#34
Does the delivery price disappear when the code is entered?
#35
For 300 pounds, what more can anyone asks for?
We're all pretty sure this must be one of the slowest laptop on the market nowsdays.

I haven't tried these processors myself, but would anyone think the basic spec on this deal is not good enough for general computering needs? :?
#36
What processor would be best to get?????????

What processor would be best to get?????????

probably the most expensive
depends on what you want to do with it and what you want to pay;-)
#38
I dont seem to be able to get it at 399 which it would be before the discount and it is not giving Free P&P

Anything above the Sempron will do for BASIC computing tasks. Also, its worth the extra twenty quid to upgrade to Vista Home Premium, Home Basic is crap.

The thing that puts me off is the price of the RAM-if you ever decide to/need an upgrade, it suddenly becomes a poor deal.

Plenty good enough for general computing on XP. I don't know about Vista - maybe someone who knows more can comment?

It's not a power gaming computer but for email/documents/internet it is more than enough power which is all 90% of people use their computers for anyway.
