1st post so be gentle. Was in my local Sainburys today (Dungannon, Co. Tyrone) and couldnt help but notice they were offering 10p off per litre at the pumps for every £50 spend instore. Dont know if this is region specific as they have just opened thier new service station in Dungannon but a deals a deal, right?

Only availabe in Dungannon, not mainland Britain.
This offer is not valid in England, Scotland or Wales.

Fab deal for anyone in Dungannon. Will def check out our Sainsbury's and see if it's being repeated here.
#2
10p? i think its 5p and they stopped those weeks ago, dont know whats going on there.
#3
it was 5p a few weeks ago but that has expired.
#4
This offer is definitely not nationwide, I have just checked. Local offer only.
Only Tescos are offering fuel discount at the moment if you discount the 2p per litre offer with Asda credit card.

Hmm, this proves that lots of people vote without knowing whether this is a deal.
This deal is not available in England, Scotland or Wales.
#6
Usha... just read the OP again!!!

Nobody said it's nationwide.

This deal is no good to 99.9% of the hukd people so it should not be voted on by people who cannot access the deal.
The same as those who vote Home Bargains deals cold because they don't have a branch near them.

People don't read the OP, they may just look at the title and that is misleading implying it is all Sainsbury's stores.
#9
Agreed the title needs ammending. (now we know)

But as a first post, the OP did state it could be region specific.
#10
Thing is i have never heard of 10p off, usualy the max is 5p

The OP is right, they are offering 10p off per litre.
That is because Tesco and Sainsbury's are charging 5p more per litre than Asda and they have been accused of profiteering so they are not really offering 10p off but really 5p off.
This is a con.

its all good for me, this is just down the road!

#14
Title needs amending or a very misleading thread.

Not voting either way.

This doesn't stop the fact that in Dungannon, Tesco and Sainbury's were accused of charging 5p more per litre than their competitor Asda.
So taking that 5p off, the deal is worth only 5p off
See quote
A spokesperson for Sainsbury's said their petrol prices "compare favourably with prices set by other retailers in the immediate area". (meaning Tesco)
They were charging 5p per litre more than their own store in Bangor due to "local pricing".

It will be funny when all these people who voted for this go to Sainsbury's, spend £50 on their overpriced food and find there's no money off for fuel :whistling:

As you say yourself the place is a rip off and any money saved in petrol is lost in this overpriced supermarket.

Why post this in the first place is beyond me?

Sorry usher i see this was not posted by you, all the same this is cold as ice.

Hey Usha, you know what? A lot of deals on here are no use to me because I too live in Northern Ireland.

We don't have Poundland or Costco for example, but I am glad to see them posted because I can tell my ffriends in England, Scotland and Wales about them.

Just because there3 are only 1.5 million people in Northern Ireland doesn't mean we should be discriminated against.

I am grateful to the OP and have added heat.

Did it also strike you that the figure of 99.9% seems to be somewhat off the mark?! By population numbers alone the poster is miles wrong!

A lot of deals posted on here are pretty **** unless you happen to be lucky in either time or location, so I agree with you entirely.

Sainsburys is great for me as I breeze round the shop in no time without the hoards of people trying to save £1 off a hundred pound shop blocking the aisles (like happens in the other supermarkets). The hassle free shopping is well worth the extra quid.

Anyway, this is a hot deal for those who have access to it, and unless there is a hotdungannondeals.com this is the place where they can find out about it.

My local sainburys, asda and tesco fuel are all the same price per litre of unleaded.

I think you will find it is Dungannon, not all of Northern Ireland will drive to Dungannon when it is 5p cheaper at Sainsbury's elsewhere in N Ireland
#24
Hot from me even though this offer is no use to me. Although my local store is in the process of building a new petrol station so might be something to keep an eye out for when it actually opens.

I can never understand what (if anything) goes through the minds of people who accuse businesses of "profiteering" by trying to selling something for as much as possible! If you don't like the prices go somewhere else.
#25
Voted Hot for a Dungannon specific deal............ (whether or not it is clear in the title, read the detail!)
Cheaper fuel is cheaper fuel for that area.
I may live 35 miles away, still wont be going tho.
#26
Not in England. Voted Cold.

Joking :p - HOTTTTT!
#27
so how much is the petrol anyway?

i am sick of how much it varies between towns.

charging more? are you sure? because around herts/ north london its a different story its much cheaper and there wasnt any price fixing around here. I would know i work for sainsbury and know everything that goes on.

Well I voted it hot, becasue it is hot. I hope a lot of people vote it hot (mainly just to upset that miserable git usharocks frankly) What is his problem. He has admitted that he doesn't bother to read posts properly, just goes by the title, and then spends the rest of the morning moaning and complaining, because he doesn't read posts properly.
Get a life, and stop trying to put off first time posters you bully.

Feeling HOT HOT HOT!!!

Usha rocks, get a life!! my goodness I agree you are a bully, NI is UK and this is HotUKDeals after all!!

Doesnt apply to you? Then don't vote at all, if it does apply vote hot or cold depending on the deal. I think that voting should not be region specific and its about time people realised that.

Welcome to HUD OP, not all posters are bullies like Usha Rocks, keep posting!!

I am not a bully. I think my post makes it clear, most people do not read the post. I never admitted to not reading it as I read it in full.
I am a she, Usha is a girl's name.
I was not getting at the OP. I am getting at Sainsbury's who were accused of charging 5p more than Asda in Dungannon and their own store in neighbouring towns as recent as August 2008.
Tescos did the same in Dungannon

The OP will tell you there was a big hoo ha over it and they were accused of profiteering.
They were charging 113.9p as opposed to Asda's 108.9p if I can remember the prices.
So if you take 10p off that, it is only 103.9p, so really only 5p off.
Are you all saying you agree with charging 113.9p then?

if you bothered to read my post you would realise I was complaining about them charging 5p less in a neighbouring town to Dungannon. Robbing Sainsbury's!
Also this deal is not all Northern Ireland...
Jeez, when will people realise I was criticising Sainsbury's and that this is not a good deal for that reason!
This story was well documented on the news at the height of the $140 oil barrel price....

Im a little bit mystified by the response my virgin post has received here. I am a huge fan of this site as it has saved me precious pound notes on many occasions and when I saw the deal Sainburys were offering in Dungannon I decided to share it with you all. I did state that it might be region specific and although it is not available to the vast majority it is relevant to all in Northern Ireland as our country would most likely fit within a 70 mile radius of Dungannon. It was not my intention to mislead anyone but to simply inform the community of a money saving deal. It is true that a bit of a price war has erupted between Sainsburys and Tescos but that is to the advantage of the motorist and I felt that people should know that they can save even further by taking advantage of this deal. Using this 10p off the price of unleaded is down to 99.9p per litre. If even 1 person took advantage of it then I feel vindicated in my post.
