Thanks will see if they have any in Edinburgh. Did anyone catch the radio 4 programme last week which had the Chief executive of Poundland on it? Was quite interesting to hear how they operate and how the price they buy at affects the number of multiple items you get for your pound e.g. batteries. Probably my favourite shop in Edinburgh. I go every week as they're by far the cheapest place to get cat food, but you always come out with some little treat or other for yourself.

But it's certainly not a bargain.

If you value your data don't buy small packs of discs and especially own brand as you could be buying any old junk or -worse- very very old discs. Xerox don't make discs and neither do Tesco and they're happy to have the cheapest as long as they can have their brand on them.

For £16.99 you can get 100 rock sold well proven Verbatim.

If you want an easy life that is.

I am wanting to buy some more blank dvds and did buy verbatim on the advice of people on this forum. I have'nt dared to ask this before but what is the difference between the - and the + and the x4 and x16 please? We are moving to Canada and they are quite pricey over there so want to stock up to take with us. Thanks guys.

DVD+ DVD- is DVD for normal DVD Recorder. Some DVD Recorder use only DVD+ and some DVD-
X4 and X16 is recording speed. If you want to use it for computer? Then X16 faster is good.

If I am wrong, please correct it.

No, it's not the case at all.
Verbatim these days have virtually all their discs made by the same factories the cheapies originate from anyways.
Easy to test
Use the free DVD identifier.
My last three lots of Verbatim were all made by CMC - the same maker of these discs.
You're buying the name.

My last lot of verbatim were MCC Dye - Made in Taiwan, apparently they manufacture in India and China too! The best of the lot are the Japanese made ones, they are proper Taiyo Yuden's. The Taiwan made ones are working well for me, but the Indian ones get mixed reviews. Here's a link to a useful utility to check what Manufacturer and dye you have on your DVD's and CD's: http://dvd.identifier.cdfreaks.com/
if you find that they are Taiyo Yuden you've struck gold, and I'd save them for stuff you want to archive for years.

I have used 100's of the tesco cheap dvd's (4 for £1) and never had a problem, had a few problems with the cheap poundshop ones (mr dvd I think) but these xerox ones look good quality to me and come in a case, each one has a serial number lasered onto the front so look good quality to me.

Thank you. I only use them to record onto dvd player so the slower will do I think. I will get my dvd intructions out to see if I need + or -. The ones I am using now are +RW. Some one must have told me to get them otherwise I would nerver have known what to get. Thanks for that.

Anyone bought razors from Poundland and tried them?

I wouldn't use them for shaving my dog's backend.

Pays your money you takes your chances with Poundland.
