Bit of a niche this one. A Christmas Northern lights fly cruise departing on 18th December for 11 nights. It's with Hurtigruten and the same cruise direct is significantly more where Iglu have this with the flights from the UK included - although it doesn't say where from. I suspect it may be LGW.

The itinerary is in the screen shots below, which includes heading into the Arctic circle and Norway.

I've posted a couple of screen shots of some of the excursions from Hurtigruten website. In places like Tromso you could easily DIY excursions and you may also be able to compare prices with those you can get yourself in Port.

If you don't see the Northern Lights (they don't appear) you get a free 5/6 night cruise. This is also a no tipping cruise.

Just a couple of examples of excursions. Others include husky rides, visiting an ice bar. I'm sure you could find similar cheaper though.

No fly?

Cheers Deeky, typo. It is a fly cruise, predictive text predicts sentences I've used in the past. Damn phone thinks it knows what I'm thinking now!

Did this cruise in Feb 2015, excellent value and saw the Northern Lights many times. Takes lots of warm clothes, it is really going to be colder than you think.

I've been on a Norwegian Cruise before and it was very calm.around Norway. It was from Liverpool and getting from there to Scotland and on to Norway was a bit rough but once in Norway was fine. I am very sensitive to travel sickness though, i even get sick on the train!

I did this cruise in November 2015 and saw the northern lights several times. The seas were very calm as you are sailing close to the coast, often with islands on the seaward side of you. The only bit that was a little bit rough was overnight at the top of Norway, but only for a few hours. And not that bad.

We went on the Nordlys (Hurtigruten) but I think all their ships will be similar. Breakfast was help yourself - all sorts from cereal to meat, fish, fruit etc. Lunch was help yourself - several dishes to choose from and lots of sides, salads etc. Dinner was on a table with 6 others. Same table every night. Waiter service. Set menu - very good. If you have an allergy or something, just tell them when you book, or at the beginning and they will cater for you for dinner. Food was fantastic. Wines etc. expensive. Same price as on the mainland, but that is expensive.
