This time of year, keep them in a garage or a shed, and not in a nice warm kitchen and they'll keep for weeks.

Should last a good month if kept in the paper bag in a cool dark place.

Very good value, and often at this price. This offer is the reason I have stopped growing potatoes on my allotment. Simply not worth the time and hard work .
#26
Too dirty! Takes a long time to wash! Heat! :)

I suspect the variety will vary by area. The bags in Aberdeen were Kestrel. Last bag we had were Innovator. Won't have them again - strange after taste.

The reason that you have trouble storing potatoes is more than likely you buy washed potatoes that are supplied in a polythene bag.
Most people do, these are not meant for storing. Not all varieties of spuds are suitable for storing and the vast majority sold are washed. If you get the opportunity to choose and would like to store .. as you often get with Morrisons .. go for unwashed, in a paper bag.
Others have asked what variety they are. That's 'and miss' I'm afraid. .... you wont be able to identify them until the bag is opened as they are various varieties, all good for storing though !

Bought a bag yesterday and used some of them in a big pot of squash soup I rustled up ... obviously washed them first !
Soup for lunch again !

Got a bag of these last month and they were terrible! Full of bad bits when you cut into them, so you can't see the bad bits to start with.... Cold chips from me

I regularly but these sacks from Morrisons. Regarding shelf life I find it depends on the individual sac age and variety, some have started sprouting fairly soon, my last sac, maybe 2 months ago hasn't sprouted at all.

Hi Kylereece, if you put an apple in beside your potatoes will prevent them from sprouting and will keep them fresher for longer :o)

I have bought potatoes in these bulk bags from Morrisons before. Normally they have the variety specified by the sell by date, have they left it off this time? Would be useful to know . I could really do with some floury bakers. Made the mistake of buying Charlottes last year. Think they had been left in the ground too late and then stored too long as well. I should have known better as they are a salad potato. That is why I'd really like to know before making a trip specifically. Can anyone check the label please, especially if you are in the North West? Good point made about regional differences in supplies.
