Have you every run out of gas in the middle of a barbeque?

Has you patio heater run out of gas late in the evening?

Do you thing getting another cylinder for £45 - £50 is a bit too expensive?

THEN READ ON:-

Homebase used to do calour gas, but they no longer do, they now do BP gas, apparently the same fitting for the regulator but just a different company.

So if you want a extra cylinder usually £44.99, take in your old calour gas cylinder and say that you want it refilled. The will kindly point out that they no longer do this anymore and only have BP cylinders. They will offer you a new cylinder costing £44.99, but will take £20 off leaving you to pay £24.99, but the catch, they are not legally allowed to take back your old cylinder (some problem between homebase and calour), so they will ask you to take it back to calour.

You now have purchased a new full cylinder for £24.99 and have a empty calour gas one, you can either go to Focus to have it filled for £19.99 or ring calour up on 0800 662663 and they will refill for £21.99 by coming to your house to change over or you can go to their depot (if its close) for £18.99

And there you have it two filled gas cylinders without having to pay a new container/cylinder charge.

The homebase staff have the vouchers for £20 of a new cylinder at the customer service desk, which is where you have to go to get the cylinders.

NO MORE RUNNING OUR OF GAS FOR THE BBQ OR THE PATIO HEATER IN THE MIDDLE OF COOKING OR WHILST ENTERTAINING!!!!!!!!!

GIVE ME SOME HEAT AS I'VE GIVEN YOU SOME!!!!! (SOME REP WOULD BE NICE.....pls)

Lightweight bottle - half the weight of a traditional steel equivalent!

New shape and colouring - colour ideal to blend into the garden and not be an eyesore.

No rust - corrosion proof fibreglass will not rust.

Visible content indicator - see how much gas you have before you run out.

27mm regulator - will fit any BBQ or patio heater.

In my hast to post this I forgot to add that, in the money you pay is the deposit for the cylinder and this is recoverable at the end, therefore if you used the cylinder once and returned then you could get 50% back on the cylinder hire so the cost would be only £12.49............

£12.49 for the gas, come on thats got to be a bargain... and available nationally from a recognised retail outlet so available to ALL HDUK'ers

BP website:-

High performance materials mean it is as safe as any steel gas cylinder

Are you sure the regulators will fit both Calor and BP bottles, I don't think so.

This is the bit I don't follow - with my local store, they just said that they don't do Calor & suggested I try a garage in town instead...

Correct me if im wrong but you dont get anything back from empty bottles that you longer want. The deposit is a non refundable one intended only to get you to return empties when you want a new one!

Hi took my calour gas back and the regulator went straight on the Bp cylinder was a 27mm, which is the most common for BBQ and patio heaters.

When you get your paperwork from homebase, it tells you that as long y you return empty in good condition they will give you 50% of rental back.

Homebase want your business thats why they want you to swop to BP, so ask the team about swopping from calour to BP or say that a 'friend' told you about this :giggle: :giggle:

Thanks you, after a brief chat with the girl out came the £20 off and a bottle for £24.99 for my new bbq i have just purchased!!

50% of the deposit back clause 6c explains it on the contract/receipt

Thanks.

Worth mentioning that the BP bottle is significantly less gas than the old calor units. Also that the b***rds at my local homebase promised me the agreement in the post, took my calor bottle and didn't send it. Must kick up some fuss about that. Was about a month ago now. (We've had brilliant weather down south you see :))

Didn't work for me just told me they don't do calor gas anymore only bp, didn't know anything about £20 off, told me to go down the road to the hardware shop!:?

they dont do calor anymore and do not accept calor bottles

Got the cold response from Homebase staff. Told me they'd never heard of the £20 off offer and wouldn't sell it for less than £45. That was at Homebase, Purley Way, Croydon. Went to B&Q instead and got a refill for £19.98 - and its 15kg!

Hi all,

Clearly stated homebase will not accept calour bottles, did you not read the post??

The vouchers were done for me yesterday and have TWO receipts to prove it, also another person has posted ad said they have been able to get it...

Tell them a friend told you about this and if they still refuse maybe ask to speak to a manager or someone who knows!!!!
#12
yes you are right the BP tank is 10kg and the calour 13Kg but for £12.50 not bad really
#13
YES i did read the post and i wasn't expecting Homebase to take back the Calor gas bottle, but i was expecting them to tell me about the £20 off offer. They didn't!! Voted cold

Worked for me this afternoon in Hamilton, I did say that I had a Calor butane cylinder and customer services desk advised me of promotion therefore I assume it's still live.

Well it looks like I was lucky and quite a few others.

But I thought it was still live hence posting it, maybe if people phone the branch and ask first, therefore they will know if their going to get lucky before making the journey.

I must be getting lucky, was given the voucher this morning after I rang customer services and the girl on checkout got the manager to confirm, cheered me up no end as I don't actually own a calor gas bottle.
