The producer Michel Torino, based in Cafayate in the far north of Argentina has got together with M&S to make this quaffable Tannat. It's clearly made with a UK palate in mind, with juicy, youthful berry fruit and chocolate. It's ripe but not too rich with the alcohol level at a very acceptable 13.5%. Of course it has big tannins but they aren't gum sticking or dry.

ABOUT THIS WINE: The Tannat grape variety is normally associated with South-western France. Winemaker Fabian Miranda has made this wine to have a balanced tannic structure. The grapes are grown in the Calchaqui Valley in the far north of Argentina where the high altitude brings cool nights, which retains freshness and the sunny days enable ripe flavours to develop.
SERVING: This kind of full-bodied and structured red works very well with robust red meat dishes, cheeses or even full-flavoured vegetarian dishes. Serve around 17-18°C.
KEEPING: This wine can be enjoyed now or within 2 years of purchase. Once opened, it will keep for a further 2 days if stored in a cool place and resealed between servings. This wine has been minimally treated to preserve flavour and so may form a harmless sediment which will not impair its quality.
