I was just about to post this - some nice deals.

I thought this one was a steal:

http://www.marksandspencer.com/gp/product/B0027J0B6U/sr=1-106/qid=1242036466/ref=sr_1_106/279-0728637-6135917?ie=UTF8&node=&m=A2BO0OYVBKIQJM&keywords=&mnSBrand=core&size=9&rh=n%3A44097030%2Cp_4%3ACase%20of%2012&page=12

That will keep well for 2 yrs so the description says, which is unusual on the cheaper wines - they tend to state drink within 3, 6 or 12months. Works out at £2.72p per bottle before your 5% quidco.

Don't forget your 5% quidco!

Heat added!

M&S wines are regularly featured in Decanter magazine. Oz Clarke also rates a lot of them highly. If you do a bit of research you'll get some decent bottles for under £10

Your best bet for getting a decent budget red is to look to new world wines, particularly Chile and Argentina. Australia, New Zealand and South Africa have some belters but you'll not get quite as much bang for your buck with them in the budget category. You can find some good cheap wines from France, Italy and Spain but if you don't know what you're looking for you could easily pick up a bottle of plonk...you tend to get what you pay for from old world wines (with the odd exception).

Have a look at this one: http://www.conchaytorousa.com/wines/diablo.html

It's roughly £6 per bottle (is this the price range you're thinking about?) and is widely available in supermarkets. It's a high volume producer, however gets good write-ups from wine experts. It's a popular one with Decanter magazine.

Is it normal that they all taste the same to me?, although I must admit I have always brought cheap ones from the supermarkets.

You have kind of answered your own question... lol

I only drink a bottle or two of red wine a month, but quality is much better than quantity. You can't beat a nice red.

Bit puzzled, 9 bottles are 2008 and 3 are 2007, which is different to the website and what I thought I'd ordered :x

According to website
Should have got
3 Lost Sheep Shiraz 2008: .
3 Burra Brook Merlot 2007: .
3 Yalumba Australian Shiraz 2007:
3 Pheasant Gully Cabernet Merlot 2007:

Chipitivo What did you get?

I don't know.. All I know is that one bottle has gone already, and has mellowed me to the point of getting into bed, with no intntion of going downstairs to look.

Will take a look and update tomorrow.

I do remember the sheep ones.

Burra Brook I have drunk tonight, can't remember the year.

I see a couple are different due to the years???

Do you think we should complain???

Will it be much of a difference?

I would have thought the older the wine the better the taste, but nit necessarily the case. Have tried calling yhem but on hold on their automated system 8 mins... then gave up! WIll try again on Monday.

No harm in asking M & S why the difference! It might just be a typo!

My mate ordered a few cases of his favourite NZ wine, same time as me, but he's still waiting!
