Last month or two I think. Check the deal history maybe!

I know! Had to pay about £90 for a decent 4GB DDR3 kit like 18 months ago, now this!

2gb ddr3 modules are insanely cheap atm.

12GB RAM :O
Is there any software other than iTunes that requires that much ram?! Bit over the top IMO :P
It does not make much difference in gaming comparing to 8GB but it will let you run more big applications. It also let you ALT+TAB more :-)

Why anybody would need 12GB DDR3 RAM is beyond me..... way over the top IMO although it does give you brief bragging rights..

8gb is beginning to be worth it for regular deskptop use, 12 maybe still a bit specialist though.

But 8GB cost nearly the same so no really waste of money.

Know what you mean, I paid £84 for 4gb DDR3 last Feb, then £42 for another 4gb in Dec.
It then dropped a couple more quid just days later.

For an average user, it really isn't.

Cold from me, this is more expensive then previous deals from places like amazon e.t.c looks cheap when you see 12GB , but it is cheaper to just buy 3 sets of 4GB from Amazon, 2- 5 weeks for delivery apparently but i orderd last time it said that and i got them 3 days later.

£126.90 total

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Corsair-CMX4GX3M2A1600C9-DDR3-SDRAM-Memory/dp/B002LE8D2A/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1294337669&sr=8-1

Also buying from Amazon means you do not need to go overkill and get 12GB can get 4GB or 8GB, still paying less per 2GB then with this deal.

If they are going to sell it in bulk as 12GB you would think it would cost LESS not MORE.

I upgraded to 8gb for the sake of upgrading :p

I done the same in December, had 4GB and just added the extra 4 because i thought £42 for 4GB was a bargain that would not last, checking my taskmgr i barely even go over 2-3GB so probably a total waste lol.

Seriously guys - 12GB isn't needed yet - my quad core runs only 4GB and is FAASST! Wait a few more years when 8GB starts to become the norm - you may be able to find 24GB deals by then lol :-)

Neither hot or cold from me... but unless your doing some serious high end stuff like making Avatar 2.. you are not going to see much difference apart from Microsoft Word loading up another second or two faster.

Why is this getting hot? it is not a deal? I decided to look further and it is cheaper then this everywhere.

For anyone who does serious software development using virtual machines the more RAM the better, just because it isn't relevant for gaming doesn't mean it isn't relevant to anything. Also video processing/editing, heavy image editing will benefit from this much RAM as you'll be able to open more images at once, and still be able to do other things in the background, like use firefox (a notorious RAM hog).

That is why I mentioned 'Avatar'... (Video Editing)

We'll have to agree to disagree cos I feel that less than 0.5% of computer users would really benefit from this... further more hardcore gamers would benefit way more by spending this money on a better graphics card. The speed difference is minimal when you think it is almost £130 to have a few apps load a few seconds quicker..

P.S Firefox is a memory hog.. which is why I am using Google Chrome right now so little memory required and it runs mega fast.. even on my lowly 4GB :-) I do not even use Firefox anymore apart from during web development.

P.P.S Having said that... if anyone wants to donate me the 12GB i will happily accept it :-)

Those videos are also made by Corsair (who make memory) so they will have a slight bias don't you think ;-)

By all means - if your in the market for an extra 12GB go for it..

My PC won't even accept 12GB RAM so it isn't any good for me unfortunately doh :-)

I upgraded from 4GB to 8 GB and trust me it does make diference.
You can jump out of game anytime (ALT+TAB) and do other stuff for example.

Fair enough - but I can also ALT-TAB without any problems with 4GB, it will certainly make a difference I won't disagree with that but I just feel that it is rather minimal to warrant a £130 on non-required upgrades. I'd upgrade my graphics card first.. to be fair I do not play heavy duty games on my PC anymore.. getting old and do not have so much time anymore (really need to win the lotto!) :-)

But 8GB cost nearly the same so no really waste of money.

I got 4x2gb ddr3 for £60. They're only 1333mhz, but overclock to 1800mhz also (not that this makes any real difference in real use).

Hot for price and memory :)

I've got 12gb on this stuff and it runs flawlessly (i7 @ 4.1Ghz, x58 etc.), even over the rated 1600Mhz it has no issues. When i originally got it they were £91 a pack as well!

Easy.. buy the 12GB RAM and you will speed up and reclaim back your time lol :-)

Unless you specifically need it, like CAD or something I can't see the point other than to brag. When games start using 12Gb of memory I'll pop down the shops for my 2x6gb ddr5 sticks for about £30. :)

You can do that with 4GB. Even if you are pushing the limits of you ram by having more open you should still be able to alt and tab because the applications are already in memory. If the applications use memory by alt and tabbing then the only thing you would notice is a slow down because the system will be writing to the page file (if memory is maxed). The CPU usage is more to question if you are struggling swapping between applications.

Im a software engineer and 4GB is fine for most things, 8GB would be nice so I will never see out of memory exceptions lol. 12GB is more for renderring images/videos and for the odd user that likes to use a mass of applications at the same time.
This is still a + deal.

Play, and it's Crucial. They don't seem to sell them anymore, although you could get em elsewhere.
