Hot on the 12 for £1.. cooled slightly by the fact i wont be getting headphones! :(
#5
I'll take a pic of the flyer tomorrow so u know what headphones to ask for
#6
Got this the last time this deal was on (1GB USB instead of the earphones). Easy to cancel if you don't want to carry on.
#7
Have to give this a shot tomorrow, it costs an absolute fortune usually :(
#8
I don't mind a bit of financial news now and then. Actually took economics at school !! With the CSR ongoing there will be plenty to read about. I'll look for the flyer post tomorrow.

how often are the issues? daily, monthly or weekly?
#10
comes out weekly. In-spite of the name this is not predominately about economics. It's a general world events/news politics magazine. It has a well justified reputation for telling you what is actually happening in the world. I don't subscribe to the free market capitalist politics of the paper but its always a fantastic read.

great deap op thanks.

Towards which partisan bias does this riveting publication lean? Not that i really care; im bored to death of western mainstream press as it spews nothing but useless propaganda. Frankly i'd rather be forced to watch strictly come dancing on ice for 365 days without respite.

will give this a shot, thanks

The economist is actually pretty decent, I find that it doesn't really polarize people like alot of other publications and it seems to have few critics among 'news and current affairs snobs'.

Excellent deal for an excellent newspaper. Already a subscriber otherwise would certainly go for this.
#16
I wish they just did a monthly issue as well, it is good but I'm in the slow readers group.
#17
Is this 12 issues for £1 , or 12 issues at £1 each?
Thx
#18
wow i'm gonna give this one a try, cheers :)

All for £1.

Definitely will be giving this a try tomorrow.
Have some heat in lieu.
#21

#22
or what model earphones u asking for
#23
Thanks OP! Sent a text, and got a call back. I didn't bother asking for headphones or anything, just got 1 issue for £1, plus a further 12 for free. So 13 issues for £1!

Set a reminder in Outlook to cancel the direct debit.

Heat added.

Just texted ECON to 60300, got a call back.

Asked about the headphones, he quizzed me on where I'd heard about the offer, if I had a code etc, I said a friend had a flier with the offer on, didn't see any code and not sure what publication it was included in.

In the end he said he'd be able to do the headphones + the 13 issues for £1. Result! Thanks OP.
#25
what headphones are they? are they any good?
#26
Is there a ref code on the flyer?

Brilliant offer that. It's usually £30 for 3 months.

I just texted that number and they called me straight back.

They offered me one free issue. I said I'd heard I could get 12 for £1. She said yes of course.

With not having the offer code to hand she asked me what free gift I'd seen advertised. I said Headphones.

She asked me what paper I saw it in and read out a list of options, I just picked one and said The Guardian.

So that's 13 issues of the magazine (they come out weekly) with headphones for £1 and you just have to cancel before the 12th issue.

Simple.

Anyone know which headphones are included?

Do they take your bank details over the phone? How do you cancel after the trial period?
#30
Are you sure this is valid? As I can't find this number on their page...

Do you give your card details over the phone?

They take your sort code and account number to set up the DD.

Just got off the phone, was super easy. Cheers OP!

Just orders pretty good 13 issues and free pair of headphones, I tried to find out some details about the headphones but they didnt seem to know anything just that they get sent straight from the publishers within 4 weeks.
is the economist weekly or monthly? I think its weekly but not 100%
#33
I have a pic of headphones but over zealous work internet wont let me upload so your going to have to wait till i get home ,for anyone wanting a ref code hdp6, although this Is for one issue and headphones for free

Thanks op, just ordered 13 copies + headphones for £1. The lady told me that i can call and cancel, email them or cancel directly with the bank at any point within the trial period and i will still get the 13 copies for free, because thats what the £1 is for. So im going to wait for the £1 to go out the account and then cancel the DD.

For people calling in, just directly ask them for the trial offer for the 13 issues of economist for £1 with free headphones. They will ask for a ref code, tell them ur friend told you about it and you think it was in the guardian. They also have a usb pen as a free gift if you dont want the headphones, but i think its only 1gb.

Damn, would have way preferred the penstick!

I asked about other offers. The 12 issues for £1 is constant, but there is a choice of gifts:-
1/. the headphones
2/. a USB memory stick
3/. a copy of "Intelligent Life", a monthly sister mag to the Economist.

I went for the headphones. At the end of the 12-weeks there is a discounted subscription offer of £30 per quarter.

Hmm they look pretty similar to the CX300s? If so not a bad deal.

Just received an e-mail from The Economist confirming the details of the DD. Also noted that as an added bonus they give you full access to The Economist online! For those who don't know, you can read full issues online, on your iphone (downloaded to the iphone for reading on the train etc), ipad and you get access to the full audio version of each week's issue. Excellent offer OP, thanks again!
