Google "difference between zinc and alkaline battery" if you want an explaination.

Zinc Chloride batteries, last a fraction of the time that alkaline ones do & are prone to leakage...cold sorry

They're "heavy duty" relative to "general purpose" carbon-zinc cells (which you don't see at all these days). If you remember red Ever Ready-branded HPx batteries, they were "heavy duty" whilst the blue SPx batteries were general purpose.

Use these occasionally, they last about 3 weeks in a wall clock, not worth the mither, cold.

They are actually OK as long as you understand what they are / are not. Regular stock though, no deal.
