Following on from the O2 broadband deal I thought this was worth a mention.

12 Months Line rental and broadband free, but you need to pay a £29.99 connection fee and sign up for a 24 month contract. For the following 12 months it is only £11.49 Line rental and £6.99 a month for the broadband.

£11.25 line rental per month and you have to change your phone line from BT to TalkTalk and you are stuck with TT for 24 months !!!

There is also a 40gb download limit (can update to 80gb for a fee but still not unlimited)

The total cost with 40gb limit is £4.75 per month over 24 months including line rental (check the call rates if you are thinking of signing up)..

Can't really compare this deal to o2.

The line rental is free for the first 12 months, you need to move your line with the O2 deal I think and this is open to all at this price. Works out at £10.49 per month for line rental and broadband over the 24 month period which I think is cheap compared to £15.50 a month for O2 customers, and £20.50 a month for non O2 customers, so you are right, this doesn’t compare to the O2 deal it is almost twice as good.

Its not "free", it's just postponed and charged as a "connection fee". Changing the name of a charge doesn't make it free, it's a marketing trick.

I know everyone will have different experiences, but my best mate had to buy himelf out of his contract with TT as his internet connection was absolutely appauling and they wouldn't sort it out. TT blamed BT, BT said it was nothing to do with them, my mate was stuck in the middle.

He bought out his contract and went with Sky; his problems miraculously disappeared.

indeed. Although im sure most people will say they've had no problems with TT, i've had relatives have serious problems with this company and in the end given up and gone back to their previous provider.

This deal is also a 2 year contract, which is a long time to commit to your BB (especially if you get a poor service) as you wont be able to do anything about it. (except buy it out).

Talk Talk was a terrible company when I used them, the broadband worked fine for 2 years then just stopped working and they could not seem to fix it, after 2 weeks of no broadband and multiple phone calls to India to tell me to switch the modem on and off I ditched them and will never go back. With Virgin now, more expensive but good quidco and works.

onetel, carphone warehouse and talktalk are from my previous experience just one company that is best avoided they take money out of the bank without permission and then charge you to call up and complain thats if you ever get past the apaulling music you need to endure while your waiting to speak with someone in bombay avoid these at all costs:

TT have theworst customer services going they left me on hold for 45 minutes once they knew i wanted to leave them if you move to them for the 2 years you will have to pay to leave them eg to get an o2 or BT line back. READ THE SMALL PRINT

When they did a cold call to my mate to sell him it, he said he wasn't interested as it's his wife who's the techy one in the house. He says the guy badgered him into taking a 'free' modem to have a look at it. My mate agreed, the next thing he knew BT had disconnected his broadband connection from them and TT were setting up theirs.

He's no' the brightest about PC's ect, but I really believe he was well and truly shafted by the TT sales folk. Be very, very careful with this shower.
