Popped into Carphone Warehouse today and saw that they had a couple of deals going with TalkTalk.

12 months free broadband which works out to be 12 x £6.99 = £83.88 saving!

You still have to pay line rental of £12.30 per month which includes free evening and weekend calls to 01, 02, 03 and 0870 and 0845 numbers.

I thought it was a pretty good deal myself.

It's available in store and via their call centre

T+Cs:

Subject to status, acceptance & availability in your area.
Payment by Direct Debit.

A one-off £29.99 connection fee & min term of 24 months applies.

1 12 months free offer: Offer only available with Essentials package excl new lines. Not available in conjunction with any other TalkTalk offer & may be withdrawn at any time. The monthly subscription fee will not be charged for first 12 months. £6.99 per month charge will be applied thereafter (TalkTalk reserves the right to change prices at any time, exclusions and conditions apply). I would sooner have my eyes poked out than get in to a 2 year contract with the dreaded Talk Talk.

thanks for your opinion, but you haven't actually mentioned whether it's a good deal or not?

I've been with TalkTalk for a couple of years now and had no major problems. If you use their online forums the support is great, but the phone support is dreadful.

Very useful if your internet is down.oO

I would avoid them like the plague.

I'm quite bargain conscious but we've just changed back to BT because Talk Talk are absolutely hopeless. Frequent broadband cut offs, phone being off etc. Nearly a month with BT and no problems whatever.

I'd advise anyone considering Talk Talk to think long & carefully about it before switching.

I've been with TalkTalk for just over two years and I couldn't be happier.

Their customer support was horrible when I joined (long waiting times 45+ minutes, hopeless untrained agents,...etc) but they have improved much now. I called them when my contract ended few months ago and was talking to someone within a couple of minutes and they offered me 3 months for free if I stay with them on a 30-days notice, which I happily took.

I was a BT customer for 7 years before, and I was under the illusion that BT is quality,...etc etc but from my experience they offer pretty much the same service but BT is triple the price!!!

My father was with Talk Talk for 6 months during which time they never managed to get his broadband working.

He lives 40 miles from me & I made 4 separate special trips to talk to their support team, and despite pre-arranging my calls (which they only managed to make 2 of) & telling them the issue was with the line & not the hardware in the house they wouldn't accept it.....on the 5th call they finally told my dad to contact BT as it was a line fault.....BUT he payed his line rental to Talk Talk & so BT could not get involved.

In the end we has to contact the ombudsman, who didn't have a good word for Talk Talk ...... Avoid like the plague

TalkTalk are atrocious, almost everything they attempt is well below an acceptable level of service. Some of their antics are nothing short of dodgy practice. This becomes evident whenever a customer attempts to rectify a billing error, report a service failure or move to another ISP.

Do not even give your contact details to this shower.

Could not agree more, Talktalk is a nightmare to deal with and trying to understand what some of the telephone operatives are saying is impossible

Finally solved my problem by contacting the managing director by email and bypassing all the people who seem incapable of telling you the same story twice

In my opinion they are terrible

Been with Talktalk for about 3 years now, and never had a problem. Free calls, and a fast reliable internet connection at a cheap price. Internet forums good if you have a problem.
Couldn't be happier!!
Been with BT Virgin Freeserve in the past whose broadband wasn't nearly as reliable.
