Just in time for the footie season.

***This offer applies to former Sky customers who have been out of contract for 1 year or more***.

I guess this will be shot down and frozen by disgruntled existing customers, but here goes.... Please vote on this deal's merit alone.

Today I received a letter from Sky offering alll 5 Sky Sports channels (1, 2, 3, 4 and News) for free, for a full 12months, should I choose to rejoin them. The terms are as follows:-

*You must be a former customer of Sky who left more than 1 year ago.
*The offer is valid when taken with any existing Sky Package (from £19 per month for basic Sky+ with one pack).

To get this offer you must call Sky Customer Services on 08442 411 378 and quote reference "SPORT3".

The package I have just signed up for is as follows (but you can pick 'n' mix).
Sky+ with Variety pack (Sky 1, Sky 2, Sky 3 etc...) - £19
Additional Children's pack (Disney, Cartoon Network Nick etc...) - £1
Free Sky Sports 1, 2, 3, 4 and News for a year.

The above package works out less than Virgin charge for just Sky Sports 1 & 2.

My brother-in-law called and got the same deal, even though he did not receive the letter and has been away from Sky for several years. Just call 08442 411 378 and quote reference "SPORT3".

See details in post below. Offer ends Septernber 2nd 2010.

Voted hot, good deal after all.

My Sky is is getting cancelled in 14 days so it might be worth me asking about this.
#4
Nothing like absolutely sticking two fingers up at virgin after they signed on the dotted line is there...
#5
Anyone know of a free phone number?

I handed in my notice to Virgin earlier today. They offered me Sky Sports 1 & 2 for £12 (intead of the usual £20.50) but it still worked out better going back to Sky.

Don't bother to call now as they are closed on the above number. Close at 9PM

I'm thinking more of the Hd. Sports prices go up shortly and vm are passing that on and charging for hd. So this means hd on sky with sports becomes a super cheap deal on sky. Sly you might say...

typical again existing customers miss out!

this is a good deal though if you can be bothered to cancel sky and then join back up after a few weeks.

any existing customers tried this yet? The best they can give us is 3 months half
price pretty pathetic in comparison and reality.
#10
The vast majority of people who left Sky 1+ year ago would have jumped to Virgin. Now that their Virgin contacts have expired Sky is grabbing them back with this HUGE carrot.

Possibly the cheapest way to watch West Ham win the Premiership:).

...or narrowly avoid relegation and Administration.
#11
Is this availablefor sky customers who left 15 years ago, haven't missed much only the sport and i'm not paying £44 for it.can go and watch for real for that price.come on the new season.

I thought you had to have left Sky over a year ago to qualify for this deal??
#13
Never had sky, was thinking about it, any chance that i could get this deal as a new customer? I have read that its for previous customers, but you never know, they may be desperate :D
#14
I got this flyer today.

I left sky over a year ago so I will phone virgin to haggle a reduction in price or I will take this out with sky.

A few weeks? It says you have to have been off Sky for 12 Months at least.

I haven't had Sky for years now. Always had Virgin just for its Cable broadband's consistency and the V+ box, but might be moving to a non-cabled area soon, so this could be just the treat.

agreed, although i have sky sports 1 and 2 via xbox...its not great even though im on virgin xl 20mb/s b/b but better than nothing

paid 9.97 for 3 entertainment packs....kept one remote (but may sell it), sold one remote for £8, 2nd remote £22, 3 xblive 3 month cards for 12.99 each....so i get sky sports 1 and 2 free for 3 months PLUS almost £40...lol!

agree re price...i left 12 years ago as they took 9 visits to install.....16 letters, 25 emails, 2 threats of legal action....in the end i got sky top package for free for 9 months then 50% for the next 6 months as they charged me for the 9 i was supposed to get for free, then I then cancelled 9 months later hahahaha....

cancelled after all the probs but also because they increased the price 6 times in 2 years!!

awful company with botty h*le employees

we have just handed our months notice with sky after 5 years for the reason we pay £58 for the full package and multiroom but yet new customers was getting it half price they offered us a phone line so said ok but the next day virgin offered us a better deal so cancelled sky to find 13 days later the phone line was took over by sky, spent 3 hours on the phone arguing until in the end i said take us to court for the money and play back the conversation we had when i cancelled 13 days earlier so finally was so mad cancelled the full lot for there poor customer service but what a hassle it is trying to cancel, they suck there customers in then treat them like s**t

To be fair, both Sky & Vigin Customer Service suck. Both use useless foreign call centres for support, both keep you waiting in a queue for ages, and both give new customers preferential treatment. I simply swap between them every year or two to get the cheaper of two evils.
#22
Hot deal, I will order it...
#23
Might do this. Can I keep landline and broadband with virgin, or is it best (cheaper/ required) to swich to BT and sky's broadband (ie multi discounts etc)

I kept my Virgin landline and L (10Mb) Broadband. Sky (BT) broadband speeds in my area are crap (2-3Mbits max) and I did not want to co back to that.

So I have:-
*10Mb plus phone for £21.64 from Virgin
*Sky+, 2 Sky packs and all of the Sports channels for £20.
Total £41.64 per month.

it was scottish call centre i got through to the lady said she had sorted it but 5 mins later when she transferred me to another guy he said she hadnt tried explaning that obviously they dont do there jobs properly but he didnt seem to understand that or that i wont pay the line rental and cancellation charge for there mess up.
Now my fella thinking about trying this offer in my name with all the channels except movies so it would be around £28 cheaper than what were paying now cos he doesnt want to loose his football

Anybody know how much it would be to get HD with this, too?
I'm tempted. I despise Sky, but the Ashes are coming, and Forest will romp the Championship this season.
Oh. And, when they install the dish, would they give me a dual LNB too?
Not that I want a lot...

Quads are installed as standard with the odd chance of an octo LNB if you sweet talk the engineer

Why are all sky customer the same all you do is moan, even when on the phone you want everything for nothing, you may only get poor customer service because you don't listen to the agent and argue all of the time, we are only human too! My advice is if you cannot afford it don't get it, taking deals like this then cause phone calls within 12 months For your selves just stuck with 1 thing and be great full. You all know you would rather be with sky then any other competitor thats why you's all ways come crawling back FACT

Cancelled Sports and Movies recently and thinking of cancelling Sky altogether anyway. May ask for this offer when I call to cancel and just go ahead and cancel if they don't offer it to me! Probably won't get it but you never know.

They are scans of the letter/offer I received from Sky. Others have posted receiving the same offer above. There is no direct Sky link, but any former customer for >1 year can take advantage of it.
#34
Great deal!

Is it free sky + box and free installation?

Can I suggest you get another job outside of customer services?
#36
Nice deal buddy.
#37
Sky has a stranglehold on the market but Virgin aren't much better. I don't really watch enough TV these days to warrant paying X per month
#38
I agree with what the other members say about switching between Sky and Virgin every 12 months. You'll always get the best deal that way.

Personally we stick with Sky but do 12 months in my name followed by another 12 months on a new contract in my gf's name. It has the same result - we never pay full price.

You can even twist the names a bit like using your middle name as a forename and your mother's maiden name as a surname etc.

Have to laugh at all the existing customers fuming at us "new' customers getting better deals. It's pure jealousy!

I had Sky for 2 years but left over a year ago. I wouldn't go back to Sky if it was all free. Happy Free-view viewer

I got this offer in the post yesterday, but only left in January. So worth trying if you've been away from Sky
