If you already have a xbox live subscription and it is up for 'auto-renewal,' give xbox a call on 02073659792.

Say you wish to cancel auto-renewal. When they ask you why you wish to cancel, state that "I can get it for 29.99 on amazon."

They'll feed you some spill about being a valued customer etc... and offer you a 40% discount, coming out at £23.99 for 12 months.

Only condition is you keep auto-renewal. Obviously not a good deal if your subscribing for the first time, but otherwise its as cheap as it comes.

Customer advisor also said if you ring before 'auto-renewal' next year, you should be eligable for discount again, and again and again and again!!!

p.s. be kind its my first post

Seems to be on dash board now. 2 pound a month for a year.
6th may
seems to have replaced the 3 month deal which is what I was gonna get.
- nebno6

Just to confirm, you do need to be viewed by microsoft as a 'valued customer' ie been with them for a number of years. How many I'm not sure, but I've held an account since 2007.

And that's quite enough of ps3 fan boy spamming. Get a proper console.

I have only been with xbox live since xmas so it seems everyone is a "valued customer" at xbox!!

inb4 PS3 jibes

Edit: Just to make sure, I'm not a PS3 user or fan

Its a good price, no doubt.
So you have to keep auto renewal on & they slap you £40 after 12 months?
Or you phone before the expiry date to get a cheaper deal or cancel I presume? Is this right?

PS3 users can't say anything
Something about PSN being offline . . :p

eltaf350z, once you sign up for the additional 12 months the renewal price gets locked in at £23.99, even if its 11 months away it will renew at £23.99 no matter what happens in the mean time.

Also, contrary to what some people may try and tell you, you can turn off the auto renew at any time you like quite easily
#6
You 100% sure? normally the deal is for 12 months but if your right this deal is super hot!

Your right, few months down the line the auto renewal can be turned off by phoning,
you can check this on the dashboard on your profile, auto renewll OFF or ON
#7
I did this earlier today...

I bought the 3 months for 6 quid deal, then rang them to cancel my auto-renewal, they offered me the extra 9 months for 18 quid (totalling £24).

Great deal! Xbox Live has definitely got cheaper recently.

And surely it's worth paying ≈£2 per month for a stable and secure on-line gaming service?

Microsoft could potentially give Sony an even bloodier nose if they announced a similar price for new accounts to "welcome the PS3 refugees" or what have you.

It's only stable and secure because nobody's really tried yet...

They constantly look for ways to exploit Xbox owners by destroying the dashboard with countless advertisements, even though you pay for the Xbox Live service (its like a TV channel deciding to charge you money to watch it, but then also filling the channel with adverts to make even more money).

Theres a start.

Personally I cant wait for the new Nintendo console, then I can be rid of my Xbox for good.

Another idiot who fails to remember the 2 week Xbox Live outage a couple of years back.

ANYTHING is hackable, but with Micro$ofts console being so open to piracy etc, the hackers have no reason to be angry at them. The Xbox never had a load of features which could then be taken away a few years down the line either (other than an ad-free dashboard of course). Sony will be regretting trashing hacker organisations after the mess with the PSN.

or go to makro and get it for £18 inc vat like i did....IF they have any left!!

Good marketing idea but I think there might be technical problems getting the PS3's to work on Xbox Live...

Details of the 'outage' for XBox back at Christmas time 2007... was nothing like the PSN one:
http://gizmodo.com/#!340421/microsoft-says-im-sorry-for-xbox-live-outages-with-free-live-arcade-game

Record signups and numbers of people are online, so "as a result of this massive increase in usage," the service got all wonky, sez Live's General Manager Marc Whitten. But they're super sorry, and to make up for it they're "offering all of our Xbox LIVE members around the world access to a full Xbox LIVE Arcade game that will be available to download free of charge."

Just done it.

£23.99

Brilliant!

I sure hope that was *willful* misinterpretation. With my respect for this community falling by the day I'm not sure what to think anymore :/

I have both the xbox360 and the PS3 and love them both, however Sony was lazy and this was one of the reasons for the hack. Sony have started to remake the PSN to patch up every problem in sight and for that reason you could say it might be more secure than XBL once Sony are done (or not). Please do not forget what network went down on christmas a few years ago, the XBL servers couldn't handle the demand and were down for christmas day and boxing day. I would say that sucks more and all Microsoft gave its users for that was a sh*t little arcade game about 1 week later.

I like the XBL network but I have to say Microsoft are just so dam greedy, it really annoys me how I need to pay to play my games online. The ps3 well... the only thing I don't like about that is when I get a update every 2nd week.... then I have to wait for 15mins until its done :( also the installing games thing takes for ever so that sucks.

Microsoft lock the hard drives to 250GB, and then charge too much if you want to purchase a legitimate one.

My outage lasted 2 weeks, and I didnt have a PS3 at the time either, so I remember it very well.

2 weeks of constant WoW, meaning my 360 went neglected anyway even when live was back on due to its addictiveness :/

Its exactly the same as every other online service out there. Except Micro$oft are the only ones that feel a need to charge for it.

O No the **** what will we do with only 250 gig hard drives !!!!!!!!!!!
I have 2 ps3's (120 gig) and I have never filled them up
Most normal people could live with a 20 gig hard drive
now stop bitching and go play on-line ;)

Good deal. Personally I prefer creating an account whenever they have the £1 for month deals + 2 games deals.
#37
phoned up last week to cancel my auto renewal, and got 12 months for £23.99 800 microsoft points and they said I had to change my gamertag for free as it contained my name because of what happened with sony lol.
#38
Not to p*ss on anyones parade or anything, but i just happened to cancel my auto renewal this morning and was going to order the amazon card tonight. when i cancelled he did ask why and i told him exactly that. there was no offer for a cheaper renewal, only the suggestion that i keep an eye on the dashboard for offers because it'll come up at around £24 there around the time my subscription runs out. a bit annoying really, could have saved me the hassle if he had made the offer on the phone.

Do you often start your arguments by insulting people?

Not experiencing your supposed outage does not an idiot make.
