My Xbox live gold account was up this month so went on the dashboard to see what offers for renewals there were and £23.99 for 12 months gold membership seemed pretty reasonable, I think you need to have a current gold account that is about to run out to get this deal....if you have a silver and wish to upgrade I think it may be different?
Apologies if this is a rubbish deal or posted wrongly, I don't do many deal posts : /

just renewed one tonight, if you have run out and call them they will do it for £23.99 by doing a 1 month sub then upgrading, getting it for £23.99.

Worth setting up rewards.xbox.com account before hand as you then get points for renewing.

How many points ? Also do you like giving them your card details ... ?

Thanks

And you will forever more be auto-renewed and have to battle to get your card details removed... cheap but well worth avoiding IMO.
#4
Cancel the direct debit with your bank?! Can't take money out then
#5
You don't have to renew after this 12 month deal though, just cancel when this sub expires.

Thanks for the post doggboy - I've added the seller to the title to make it clear its not a scratch card type of offer.....
Cheers

Good price but you have to cancel it for the next year otherwise it renews. you have to call a telephone number and its hell of a job.

And then have your gamertag locked down for 6 months, microsoft will try to charge any card you have on the system and if it fails after 2 months or so you get your account frozen.

To describe it as a 'battle' is nonsense. You can phone them as soon as you like to switch the renewal off, I've done it before and it was a quick call. Free phone 0800 587 1102.

apparently the family package is £69 and allows 4 accounts..

could be useful if mates want to get to also.. £17 per person

The people that constantly spew out this argument.... do any of you have phones on contract? or pay the gas and electricity or have a mortgage or pay council taxation?

Do you see?
#12
got mine last night .. just use a credit card which most ppl change every other yr to get best rates or topup account just before it ends with prepaid subscription job done

I'd heard this - but took me about 5 minutes when I phoned them up to take the auto renewal off.
#14
Where abouts is this please? Ive got a week left but can't see this deal anywhere :(
#15
Where did u get ur information from???

Sign up, after it's all done log into your account online and turn off auto renew.

End of

When i follow the link and go on xbox.com it comes up with £39.99 for the year. Do you have to do this on your console rather than the website?
#17
Getting auto renewal cancelled isn't tough at all, and most importantly it's a *free* 0800 number phonecall and the staff answered very quickly and the guy I spoke to was very friendly.

It's not like when you have to call Sky on an 0844 number and wait to do it. I'm not quite sure where this fear of "having your card details" comes from.

can I pay for gold live renewal( for my son) by a topup card. as i dont want to give them my cc details again?

top up cards (like the paypal visa one) are essentially just visa debit cards.

the only thing you cant use them to pay for are house hold bills.. purchases are fine
#20
the only problem with having a real credit card on file (even if auto renew is turned off) is that if you have bought points for your kids account at any point or subscription with it, say your kid were to fall foul of one of these scams, say fifa 11 where he thinks he may be getting free coins etc, he gives his tag and password over, meaning your card gets used by the scammer to purchase lots of points, xboxs etc from MS.

getting your money back is a right bi-atch

So does that mean I can go to somewhere like WH Smiths and get a prepaid card with a scratchpanel and pay cash and then input the big number somewhere on xbox dashboard and renew my sons xbox live account for another 12 months and if so how much should I expect to pay? thanks in advance Paul M........
#22
people are not stealing your credit card details jeez.

great deal! heat!

I'm not sure about Smiths selling them, but you can always get them online. £23.99 is usually about the best price for a Dashboard deal, but to buy the card you're usually looking at a bit more - probably around the £30 mark at least.

But yes, you buy the card, and enter the code on the Dashboard.

Good price, just got it myself :D

What is the deal with everyone moaning about being stuck on auto renewal?

Like someone already said just cancel the DD to your bank. Microsoft DONT and WONT do anything aside from cancel your auto-renewal...I know this because I had auto renewal setup and my XBL gold just ran out. I got a email from MS saying your auto-renewal has been cancelled blah blah blah.

I will update using a pre-paid card at a later date.
#28
I called and got the 40% offer too. £23.99 for a year. Nice. Heat added.
#29
I have now moved over to PS3 as was sick of paying for online but must admit that the servers on xbox are much better and fifa 11 is better on Xbox...cod on PS3. To the point this is a hot deal and for all those moaning about how hard it is to cancel Xbox live shut up.
1) Log on to Xbox live on the homepage
2) Find the option to cancel auto renewal and tick

That was so hard was it not?

Hot deal btw...rest of you cut the bull!
#30
Not quite sure why people defend the so called ease of canceling. If the option to take up the deal is there on the dash, the option should also be there to cance, no questions asked. The fact you have to make a phonecall is ridiculous.

It is a good price, and it's annoying they are user specific. My gold runs out in less than a week, but Ive seen no sign of the same deal. But it can be bought online for a similar price if you shop around gaming forums.
#31
I personally prefer to get my Xbox Live cards via ebay but this is even cheaper.
#32
I called and was told you could only get it if t was on your dash :(
#33
WHY is this here AGAIN?

You can't cancel a direct debit because it isn't a direct debit to start with. MS just make a charge to whatever card you have on there system when renewal time comes around. It could be a debit card, could be a credit card you have on there.
#35
I can't find this deal on my dashboard either, is it only for specific people?

For those who rang up and got the deal, what number did you ring and what did you ask for?

Why is it ridiculous? I don't see it as a problem myself so curious why are you so against it when it takes only a couple of minutes and free irrc?
#37
Thanks for this. Son's renewal is due in 2 days and I was tempted to just let to go and pat the £40. Just made a 3 minute call to a lovely Irish guy (sexy voice!) and cancelled auto-renew. Now off to check son's dashboard.
#38
Ignore the scaremongering, I already signed up to the £23.99 over Christmas and I was happy!
#39
Why do people post this every week? If you have silver/running out of gold soon, you will get this offer, and there have been cases in the past where you get 2 free arcade games/ a full game for free.
