Just noticed this deal on my xbox homepage. Says 25% off plus a free game. Don't know if I have it as I have let my free months trial expire today or if this is available to everyone? Says £29.99 for the 12 months Live gold and you will be sent the points within 1-2 months and you have to automatically renew of course.

I'm new to it too so couldn't comment. I have literally only just hooked up online a month ago and have used my free trial and this has come up on my homepage today. Maybe it is for those who are yet to sign up to a subscription to xbox live. I haven't bought it as I have the 14 month deal from Argos which I am getting for xmas, but thought this was a good deal.

I'd be really tempted by this but i dont really want microsoft holding my card details, especially as you supposedly have to **** around with a call center to turn off autorenewal... anyone had experience of this lately?
#5
Use a credit card that is about to expire within 12 months? That way it won't autorenew?
#6
I had no problem calling customer services to have my card details removed.
They even refunded the cost of my subscription as I said I didn't want it.
#7
Takes about 2 minutes to turn off auto renewal.

You can stack multiple subscriptions on top of each other.
ie. if you currently have 3 months remaining, you can buy this & add to your account to extend your Gold membership to 15months.

Hope this is clear.

Incorrect.
This has been addressed my Microsoft quite a while ago.
You can switch off auto renewal & delete credit cards via the xbox.com website or via the console.
Accounts/Account management I believe.

I still think you have to call them to remove your card from their records. It won't let me remove my card or turn auto renewal off

I dont think you can do that in the uk?
I thought it was US only and anyone else had to phone them up?
#11
Nope. In the UK you NEED to call them to turn it off. I did this when the did the £23 deal took all of about 5 mins, not a problem.

Can do it in the UK too.

You still have to phone them up to cancel in the UK afaik.

Also, if you use a credit card that expires or is cancelled by the time the renewal comes around, they will still try and take payment and then block/delete your XBL account after a few weeks if they can't get the money.

No mention of it on my homepage. Shame, as my sub is due to expire in a couple of weeks.
#16
These deals are user specific, so not a deal for HUKD purposes.
#17
good deal but i doubt id get it.
i have never put any details into my xbox for live renewal, i think i got 3 months free when i bought a used 20gb hdd from them direct and then bought a 1 year code from a store.

i would be tempted by this though, but i dont run out till may so ill see what offers are around then.
#18
Try the 23.99 deal first if you have your card details registered on line, search for xbox live.
#19
I saw this, it wasn't clear if it was specifically "the maw" game that was free or if it was 800 points. If it was definitely the points I'd go for it.

Where did you see it for £23.99? Interested at that price

If you're signed up for the new Rewards program, I think you'd get another 200 points on top due to you renewing your Gold for a year.
#22
Related question: Do you get reminders as to when these are due to expire, or are we supposed to keep track?

I think that they will probably message you via the xbox 360 console and possibly email you as well
#24
Can you not just cancel the direct debit? Or is it not via DD?
#25
So has anyone else seen this on the Xbox homepage?
#26

They send you reminder emails.

Mine has just expired, I received an email with a month to go and then again a week before.
#27
It's on my homepage. I haven't paid for a subscription for at least a year so maybe it's aimed at those with lapsed subscriptions.
#28
I saw this yesterday (04/12/10) on the homepage and took the deal up but I think it was only for 1 day, also I'm not sure how you get the free 800 msp or game but I have emailed them today to ask the question, also asked when I get my 200 reward points.

It was a deal ages ago. Not available anymore.

Is it true that you have to pay to play online with an XBOX. Is this what this offer is for?

Why don't you buy a PS3 instead and play online for free.

X)

Because a ps3 doesnt play xbox 360 games or is that not obvious?

You could just buy the PS3 games though instead, or is that not obvious ;)

Only thing that's obvious is that you are trolling the thread and threatening to fill it with the same old rubbish fanboy arguments we've all heard a thousand times before. I'm sorry you can't afford to buy a PS3 AND a 360 so feel the need to big your chosen console up every chance you get. I myself have both and choose to play online with the 360 because the service is better and £30 is negligible. If the game is PS3 exclusive then I'll happily use that service too. Until they start charging for it. http://www.computerandvideogames.com/article.php?id=230085

My point is that this isn't really a suitable place for this discussion but since you brought it up I thought I'd reply. Now the thread will be full of irrelevence. And it's all your fault.

(_;)
