Sure, you wouldn't necessarily buy the paper just for the CD. But if you want a Sunday paper anyway and like Genesis then this is a good deal. I just wanted to make people aware of it. If you're not interested then please find a better deal and post it.

Last week, Genesis released a lavish new DVD, When in Rome 2007, featuring the Rome show in its entirety, together with a revealing behind-the-scenes documentary of the entire tour.

To coincide with the film, The Mail on Sunday will next week give away a specially commissioned CD of Genesis music, including Turn It On Again, Follow You, Follow Me, Mama, Abacab among many others.
The track listing was selected by Tony Banks who, along with Mike Rutherford and former lead singer Peter Gabriel, founded the band at Charterhouse School 40 years ago.

'In the early days, Genesis was best known as a live band - so we wanted to give people the opportunity to hear what we sounded like on last year's tour,' said Banks.

'But other songs, such as The Cinema Show (from 1973's Selling England by the Pound) have been remastered from the original tapes.

'Modern technology such as "surround sound" gives us the opportunity to make them sound so much better.
'I also took the opportunity to sneak on a favourite song of mine, Many Too Many, which rarely sees the light of day,' he added.

The song, from the 1978 album And Then There Were Three, was written by Banks himself.

This site is nuts. If you vote cold and don't say anything, folk moan. If you vote cold and say something, folk moan.

The guy voted cold and gave you his reason. So he gets insulted. Is it any wonder folk just vote and run?

This is the freebie section. That CD will incur a cost of £1.60 (or whatever) so it is cold, by the fact is isn't actually free. It will. No matter how many times anyone tries to justify it there will still be money coming out of you pocket. So, it isn't free.

Move it to the Deals section and it's a good bargain and would get voted warm.

I have no problem with people voting cold if they can offer a better deal. It maybe that you can get a Genesis album somewhere for less than the price of the Mail on Sunday. For someone who doesn't buy the MoS anyway, then that would be a better deal...I've not seen one posted yet though.

I agree it is arguable if this should be a freebie or a deal (and I may have chosen the wrong option...I accept that). However, most HDUKers are intelligent enough to realise that you need to buy the newspaper to get the "free" album (hence why its been voted a hot deal despite your opinion).

If I have upset anyone by posting this as a freebie then I apologise. This was not my intention.

Ridiculous, an excellent freebie if you get a Sunday paper. If you don't get one, then ****** off!

Thanks biker. Hopefully someone will post a good deal on a Genesis album for people who don't want to buy the MoS. Now that would be helpful. Just remember that the majority of HDUKers are good people who use this site to help themselves and others to save money.

Front row NEC when I was about 15, carpet crawlers. Can still remember it. One of the most fantastic concerts I have ever been too. Light show was out of this world. Went downhill when PC went his own way IMO.

Not been fortunate enough to see Genesis live. One of the best concerts I went to was Blondie, Hammersmith, 1979. When Debbie was at her pouting best!

Moved this to deals- it's a great offer though not a freebie as it involves a monetary spent :)

Yeah I saw them there too, was that when there were a couple of other people on too. I seem to remember wasn't one Paul Young?

I remember it being a red hot day and nearly missing the last train back to brum. Would have been around the mid to late 80's.

NEC was early to mid 80's and was truly unforgettable.

damm, saw this just after i came back from shopping!

It wasn't me who commented on your avatar (although I understand what he/she meant). Looking at your comments on a number of other postings there appears to be a trend. I'm not being rude, simply making an observation. Other HDUKers are free to make up their own minds.

A moderator has now politely pointed out my error, and I have politely apologised. They have kindly moved my posting to the correct channel as I was unable to do it myself. That's how it works. Watch and learn. :)

Thanks to everyone who posted kind comments on this deal. Hope you got your CD ok (I did). Tempted to buy the full DVD When in Rome set now. Anyone know any good deals on this? Cheapest I have found so far is

http://www.dvd.co.uk/DVD/Genesis-When-In-Rome-2007/GENDVD2/product.htm?sr=gsp

Not going to post this as a deal as it is, give or take a few pence, around this price everywhere I've checked.

Was at Twickers last summer and Wembley in 80's and Hamburg in 75 for the Lamb Lies down tour. Nice to add this to collection. If you want it as a freebie, go ask your newsagent on Monday morn if he's got any leftovers. Mine invariably will let you have any of the mag packs free.

You lucky person. Its not that I'm jealous or anything (..oh, ok I am!). And thanks for the tip re the newsagents. Hopefully they will have some left.
