Wouldn't buy anything that charges on the mains in poundland. fried my Samsung galaxy 5 with a signalex cable.

be careful with these things, they generally don't work for much more than charging enough to make an emergency call while it is connected and they discharge themselves very quickly when stored so when you try to use it most likely it will be dead.

I got one of those 99p euro car parts ones that was posted on here just before Xmas.. amazed that it charges the wifes iPhone 6 from 12% - 100%

Bought one of these myself a few weeks ago. Have only used it once - wouldn't recharge my Doogee X5 Pro but gave my Bluboo Xfire 2's battery a 40% boost. Some retailers would charge you £1 just for the USB cable...

Surprised they want to take the risk selling something like this, remember the EE power bars?

I don't buy these type of electrical products from Poundland. Even though price is tempting, but I am skeptical of this harming my phone

There was nothing wrong with the EE power bars. It was probably a user error that caused the issues. see the teardown on youtube, the EE bars were better quality than the poundland ones.

User error or not, you've said it yourself. The EE ones were better quality than this, yet they exploded often enough to cause a bit of a fuss. I've notice Poundland are also selling a USB mains adaptor too, balls of steel.

These things have always been available for pence online, but you rarely see any phone chargers that take 240v in the pound shops because of safety requirements etc. Maybe that means they're pretty confident this deal and associated charger are safe.

There's a teardown of the chargers here too https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RvSX7JkYNZw

They don't look too bad but I totally agree with you I would be very wary of anything mains powered. I could even see how junk could end up in the supply chain of even a reputable supplier and be dangerous. That said, he was fairly happy with the construction, I bought one and took it apart, same as his. It will do to keep in my locker at work and be reasonably confident no-one will want to nick it.

I got a bunch, only about 400mAh in all the batteries, reported to trading standards.
