don't last forever but what does? just back everything up,as there's no physical moving parts it should last a very long time though and well worth investing if the price is right.

It will last longer than you will care.

Personally I'm holding out for a 240GB+ at this speed but its a solid purchase if 120GB is enough for you.

I bought an OCZ ssd. My first! and it failed out of the box! Was brand new and sealed from scan. I powered it on and it staed "12% life left" in the drive. Even though it was its first ever power on... I wouldn't waste your money and go thorugh the hastle of having to send it back wait up to 10 days for a replacement etc. Anyone should buy the samsung 830. I bought it and never looked back. Amazing speeds, upto 500mb/s and even in sata 2 configuration i still get 250mb/s! Cost £80 but you can get it a few quid cheaper. (it does come with norton ghost full so you can sell that for £10 to bring the price down. + It does come with sata to USB meaning the drive you take out of your laptop you can just connect to any computer to retrieve the data from. Saves having to spend ££ on an enclosure.

Also samsung are the only company to do in house parts (the only manufacture to create the WHOLE SSD, case, flash chips and most importantly the controller! all others have third party controllers and have a tendency to fail sooner. Just thought id mention of experience with OCZ drives. That was my first and last OCZ drive, ever!

Samsung 830 with laptop accessory kit (norton ghost usb to sata and also a small bracket incase the drive is smaller than your original to make it fit perfectly in your laptop) £80 <<< Thats what i bought

It should be in the title also.

Theres plenty of deals on this site that show a discount if you use a student card, however they show the full price in the title. Why should there be an exception for scan?

The reason you probably don't have more drives coming back is because people don't check the state of them. I didn't purposely go to check the heath of my drive, i was going to update the FW. Thats how i came across the poor condition of the drive. I have never had a drive this poor before and i have used LOADS of different ones. Hitachi, seagate, samsung etc. People who do own OCZ drives should run an app called crystaldiskinfo. It will tell the health of the drive and heat temps (if the drive has the sensor of course)

While I can see the benefit of the postage being included in the title, what makes this any different from an instore deal. Today only is still available in the shop. The pre-postage price is completely valid.

I got it when it was posted on the site some time ago, around 50 quid mark. It works absolutely fine in older Macbook 5,2 (non-unibody, late 2009) with dreaded NVIDIA MCP79 SATA controller (allegedly being incompatible with just any SSD). Speed is great, no beach balls or other nonsense. Just remember to lock the SSD in SATAII mode (3Gb/s) using OCZ tool if you use it in similar configuration.

There are a lot of unfavorable reviews and problem reports about OCZ Sandforce-based SSDs (usually dated late 2011) on the internet, but I think OCZ have now rectified their firmware / quality control problems. My SSD came with 2.22 (latest) firmware preinstalled, which is quite reassuring - possibility this is a new improved batch or revision.

I bought one from Scan last week (not far away for me) and put it in my neighbours Lenovo laptop. (single core celeron,1.5GB ram ,Win7 home basic). The performance difference from the original 80GB mechanical HDD I took out is staggering. From the press of the power button,it takes longer to go through the BIOS than boot into Win7. Around 20 seconds from button press to desktop with all start-up programs running.Well worth the money and if I can afford one this week,it will be going in my PC to replace a 500GB WD as the OS drive.
    Highly recommended.
