The asda one sounds good then. so whats the benefit of the pump?
#6
From what I believe, the pump is there to act as a filter for the water...

Why?

According to this:

http://*********.co.uk/Bestway-12-ft-x-30%22-FAST-SET-pool-&-filter-pump_W0QQitemZ380034944977QQcmdZViewItem?IMSfp=TL0806071027a20629

5,377 litres capacity.

About £1.40 for 1000 litres from my water company.

Cost to fill = £7.50

Cheaper than taking the kids to the swimming pool once, and you shouldn't need to empty it over the course of a summer

A nicer setup is more expensive: you are looking at a heater (£35) (http://*********.co.uk/OBlue-3Kw-Swimming-Pool-Heater-For-Pools-up-to-15ft_W0QQitemZ350068095918QQihZ022QQcategoryZ20733QQcmdZViewItem) and solar cover (£12) http://*********.co.uk/BESTWAY-SOLAR-POOL-COVER-to-fit-12ft-FAST-SET-POOLS_W0QQitemZ380035868321QQihZ025QQcategoryZ20730QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Beware of the heaters, at 3.000 watts, it's going to cost 35p/hour, so you really wouldn't want to heat it up too high.

For those who can't be getting to Netto, there's plenty of pools for slightly more money if you want.....

You are joking right? Without the pump the water wouldnt be able to stay clean, and sterile enough to go in. You need a pump, with a filter which seems to be included. Then you add chlorine I believe, or there is some other chemical (instructions are normally included).

We have a 15 foot one, but paid about £125 so this is cheap - our one lasted about 3 summers.

We kept our 10ft pool clean all summer last year with no pump because we couldn't find the lead. The chlorine keeps it sterile, the pump is there to filter out particles which have fallen into the pool but TBH, we didn't find it particularly efficient - we bought a maintenance kit and found that did the job much better. We bought a new pool this year because there was a hole in the old one and we haven't even bothered to set up the pump - can't see us bothering TBH.

Most people suggest adding plenty of chemicals to these otherwise the water goes green very quickly.
