Just bought an Extension Lead on a reel from Morrisons. Marked at £10 but on offer for £6. 18 metres of cable, Full 13 Amp rating. 4 Sockets with safety thermal cut out. You should use it with the cable unwound to prevent it overheating, but this is standard practice for all such reels. Seems like a good price.Morrisons branded so expect it to be available throughout their stores. Not sure if available online.

Yes, most definitely .. I was still peeved as I'd bought a 20 pack about a week before for 99p .. now its 2 x 20 for 99p :x

I'm going to buy more when I'm there ... they're the zinc chloride type ones, but they're pretty good so far.

Hi. Is this an outdoor extension?
#11
Great deal for 18 metres.
Heat added

Is this an outdoor extension lead as it's a great price if it is.
#13
As far as I can see its a standard indoor one / none rain use one as the cable isn't thick / armoured for heavy outdoor use!
(Bought 1 myself from Enfield A10 Morrisons yesterday!)

This is not a weatherproof extension lead. Fitted with standard 13 amp sockets and states 'Do not use in wet conditions' so for use outside only with care and in dry weather.

A cracking price!

Good advice about using unwound......with 18 m to play around with, you might be tempted to just roll out the few feet you require, but all these reels heat up a lot if left on the reel. - Voted hot, (as a completely separate issue!)

I use my current 'indoor' 10m cable outdoors, and only partially unwound.
Been doing so for years without problems. One time it even rained, and I still managed to quickly finish strimming the lawn. Just had to wipe the reel dry afterwards.

Not saying you should do this, or that you won't die, but just letting you know that I've been there and done that and (thus far) lived to tell the tale.

Also, this item is a good price.

Definitely not recommended. You've been lucky. If some part becomes live due to rain, or you cut the lead and you touch it, you will probably die.( It won't automatically 'blow' the fuse.) You should use a rcd socket inside the house, which you should connect the extension lead to. For instance:

RCD=residual current detector

How true

Use common sense that all.
This seems to be lacking nowadays
