The Economist deal previously picked up by ikram3 is back on, with a slight variation.
Not to everyone's taste but hopefully it might help someone.
No card details required and no strings attached. Call 0845 357 8006 and quote GIG71 or text ECON to 60300 for them to call you back.
Initial offer is ONE free issue of the Economist plus a free 1Gb Economist branded memory stick. You don't need to go beyond that if you prefer not to.
However, if you are not already a regular reader they will also offer you a further 12 issues for a single payment of £1. This must be made by direct debit but you can cancel at any time before the end of the period without any further commitment.

0845 phone line open 8am-9pm (Mon-Thurs) and 8am-8pm (Fri-Sun).

Hope this helps.

PS First post, so perhaps a mod could help with an appropriate pic? Thanks.

I signed up for this last time out. There was no mention of a memory stick (the agent I spoke to knew nothing about it) and although I'm getting The Economist[1] no memory stick ever turned up.

[1] I went for the 12 extra issues for £1, just so long as I remember to cancel the DD in time

I specifically mentioned the memory stick to the agent and he was fully aware of the current offer so I expect to get one - if not, I'll be on their backs !

The memory stick should come with the first magazine. If not chase them up via email and get another one sent out.

Leaflet says "You will be charged for one text at your mobile provider's usual text messaging rate".

If i don't want to commit further, do you cancel online or do you phone that number again.

Good offer..I just registered myself. She confirmed the memory stick as well. The number quoted in the beginning 020 7925 3600 is not working so I used 0845 357 8006
#18
I'm slightly confused here. It says on the website 12 for £12, so is this deal offline only (i.e by calling/texing)?
#19
Got the deal for 1 pound, very straightforward, very good deal! Thanks a lot for the info.

I ordered it last week, for the free copy and was amazed at the fantastic low price offered for the next 12 issues. Hassle free, got my first copy in a matter of a few days!

It seems that the 020 number isn't working so I have removed it from the original post.

If you only take the single copy plus the memory stick you don't need to give any bank details (only your name and address) so you don't need to do anything further.

If you take up the 13 issues for £1 offer they will ask you for your bank account details to charge the direct debit to. They will also write to you at the same time and in that letter will be the phone number to call if you don't want to go beyond the 13 issues. Just make sure that you ring up in good time - I would suggest at least one month before the next dd would be charged.

Hope this helps. 8)

You can cancel your subscription once the £1 has been charged to your account. You will still receive the 13 issues as that is what you've paid for.

Just did it there. took the 12 issues for a pound. Was going to buy this for uni anyway, so this was a good saver!

Nice worked a treat for me. After the initial 13 issues for £1 the guy said it would br £15 a quarter. Not too bad if there are no other offers available then.

Got mine today, very wet! But no sign of any drive. From what I was told when I ordered, the drive comes seperate but should around the same time/ just after the first issue.
