13 piece ASDA knife block set ***£5.00*** instore

Just returned from ASDA Sundelrand (Leechmere) and picked up a cheap set of knifes. I think they were reduced from £12. Please dont harp on about the quality.... I don't expect these to be the best but at £5 for 13 pieces (includes scissors) I don't see how you can go wrong. Someone recently confirmed they had them in Birmingham too so its probably natonwide but can't find them online so its probably Instore only. Couldn't find image on ASDA website so used a prestige pic instead (perhaps someone could amend it).

Includes:

1x heavy duty scissors
1x paring knife
1x boning knife
1x utility knife
1x chef knife
1x carving knife
6x steak knifes

Is this Asda at Leechmere? This seems a good deal even if you do have to keep sharpening them.

Yes it is, they had loads left just over an hour ago.

reduced from £7 to £5, still voted hot

Really???? I really can't remember but I'm sure they were over a tenner.. I bought them for someone else and I really wouldnt have bothered to save £2.. You might be confusing these with the 5 knife block set.

Someone posted deal after me has just confirmed they were £15... NOT £7... I mean come on, 13 pieces for £7 ahem....

are these serrated edge knives? if so it's ideal for some people.

Not being brown nosed, i'm all for a bargain, but if they are serrated they normally are poor quality, dont last long, and generally can do more harm than good. Might seem sharp for the first few months but long term value they aren't that good.

Only saying it because i prefer to have knive's that last a long time and are a lot safer.

Dont get me wrong, i'm voting Hot because it is a great deal. Value for money is amazing, really great find OP,

But my advice would be if you can buy yourself a good set of victorinox if you can afford it. Something with a nice thick straight steel. I would even ask your local butcher where they get their knives and you'll be quite suprised at quality of the steel you get and not too bad a price either.

Like i said im not flaming, or having a go, but in my opinion something like kitchen knives i would buy better quality. IMO.

I bought a set of knives from Asda yesterday morning, Kitchen Devils 6 knife set for £15, reduced from £30.
Not used any of them yet, they're sat on the kitchen top... I only really wanted a carving knife after I shredded my chicken last sunday with the one I have.

Totally agree, had these for about12 months blunt as now, require constant sharpening every time i use them.

Are these the prestige ones that they were selling around £12?

Sorry just seen in the description, this is gonna get hot!! they were hot at £12!
#11
They stain/rust easy as well as blunting quickley

Just to make it clear these are not the prestige set but ASDA make.. And I just knew we would have to get the "poor quality, pay more for better quality" brigade out lol. Budget knifes for people on budget people... As for them rusting lol "come on", I bought a knife from the pound shop before and it never rusted in 4 years of use and these are much better quality.

But a £5 I aint going to complain if I have to replace them in a few years.

Good price even if you just keep the scissors and block and put your own knives in it! Heated :-)
