Fast hard drive for those of you who are impatient (me being one of them) and at a quite reasonable price. Some may think this is expensive for the capacity but it is quick.
Also looks well built and i know for a fact seagate are reliable.

Only £128 with delivery included.

Tad on the chilly side in terms of value, I'd say. For the same money, you could put a pair of Samsung F1 Spinpoint 500GB drives in RAID and add 4GB of RAM to your system, which would provide faster disk access and the need for less of it by giving the OS more RAM to cache with and less need to rely on the page file. It'd also provide about 7x the disk space.

Also these are SCSI 320 drives, so usless unless you have a SCSI controller card.

Sure you could do that but then you have extra hassle i dnt personally think samsung are as reliable.
But fair enough everyone has there own opinions i wont disagree.

Disk speed makes a huge difference, once you have 2gb of ram the jump from a 7200rpm drive to 10000rpm far surpesses the difference any ram can make.

Anyone know how these compare to the raptor 150gig ?

Not impressed with the Raptors...I get a better performance from my Samsung F1 1tb (I use Raptors at work)

im sorry but scsi just aint good, very expensive for good controllers. Buy the 640gb western digital for £61 instead, about same speed and half the price, 4x the capacity. Seek times will likely be it's only advantage.

Also 80 pin as well so you will need to get a caddy or an adapter. Quite slow for SCSI nowadays anyway with 15K drives. Better off getting the Raptor but even the Raptors are old hat now

Its a good price for a SCSI drive for a home machine - and is likely to still be running when some X-ATA owners we wishing they had made backups.

Raptors are not much use for a computer you have to sit next to, if you intend to listen to anything.

just how impatient have you to be to buy one of these. Better to have a sip of Guinness and wait.
