Hi, first deal.

I just ordered a refurbished laptop at Dixons, added to cart, went to check out, choose the next day £3.99 delivery, then it gave a discount of the below

http://www.dixons.co.uk/gbuk/hp-pavilion-g6-1241sa-refurbished-15-6-laptop-red-12263569-pdt.html

Order subtotal £349.99
Discount remove£-52.50
Delivery £3.99
Total
(Including VAT) £301.48

I am not sure whether this is just rerurbs, but I did add another refurbished laptop, and it added the discount again.

Thanks

Lulu

Note that works with standard delivery as well (you still get discount and is free delivery).

Have read plenty of horror stories about dixons group non cudtomer care, that's what's putting me off buying one of these

Google search came with plenty poor reviews. Price and RAM are better than Dell Outlets. I will stand down and wait for 1080p screen laptop bargain

Unfortunately anything decent is sold :(

Has anyone tried buying any of these? The Dixons website will not let me checkout at all.

Looks like OOS

chances are you will buy one and it will be like a completely new laptop with 12 months warranty to boot, but there is a chance you may get a faulty one like anything you buy or one with a slight mark, thats what the warranty is for, just got a samsung laptop from ebay currys/pcworld outlet refurbished and it was new not a mark or finger print on it just came in a non samsung box, remember the reviews you see on the net are from peed off people a minority few, less people write reviews when they are happy.
#11
dixons - currys rubbish - poor service after sales.
#12
Got a couple of Desktops from them last year(exactly the same model) one was obviously a return other was brand new. Both excellent machines for teh money, not a thing wrong with either.
Agree their Aftersales is rubbish though, I had an issue a few years back with a charger/mains cable, they wanted the whole laptop back, wouldn't just accept the charger and replace that. I bought a replacement off Ebay for about £20, wasn't worth the hassle for the warranty.

Still doesn't work for me, not sure if the one I have in my basket is a refurb though

Doesn't seem to work on apple refurbs : (

So tempted by this one but lots of negative reviews about the laptops wireless card.
#19
There is no need to add next day delivery anyway......

I'm thinking this is a good deal: HP G6
There was a thread on here about this laptop as well.
It works out at £322.99 after the discount is applied.
I would buy it but my current laptop is not much worse and I would only upgrade to a superior laptop :)
Anyway, good spot OP! Heat added.

Not an expert on these things but pretty sure that this one has the better processor and is the same price
Intel® CoreTM i5-2450M version

hot deal!!

all the negative comments about them being refubs... you have 7 days to take it back to your local store for a refund, worth a punt

It does have a better processor but only just as the AMD one can be easily overclocked which you can see from the thread that I linked to. The major difference though is the graphics card. It is well superior to the integrated HD3000 that comes with Intel i5 processors ;)

If you're looking for a refurbished Dell laptop, it will most likely be cheaper if you were to purchase directly from the Dell Outlet

A local Dixons store? Good luck finding one.

40gb hdd lol I must have close to 10tb of storage knocking around.

Someone spammed this deal when it was first posted possibly to hide it so that they could go and grab the best deals. There were some HPs with i5-2430, 6GB, 750GB for just under £300 in stock at that point. Cheapest now seems to be HP with the faster i5-2450M with otherwise similar spec for £323.

Toshiba 13.3” Ultrabook with i5, 6GB, 128GB SSD for £553 is a good deal and it gets good reviews.

That's a £10 component out of a £600 laptop. If it's broken - get it fixed under warranty. If it's just poor, buy a better one!

I've had a couple of refurbs from Dixons before - they were both excellent and served me well for as long as I had them (until I upgraded). So I can't vouch for their after sales service, but only because I've never needed it!

I was looking at a HP DV7 for £600 before, but it was out of stock for ages and then disappeared from the website. Now there's a better one there for £700 which comes down to just under £600 with this discount, so I might go for it! Will have to see how much I can get for my current laptop first...

Just bought an all in one dell inspiron 2320 from dell outlet, i5 2400s, 6gb ram, 1tb HDD, nvidia gt 525m gfx card, bluray drive, 23" touch screen. For just under 500...

I've read that gfx card isn't amazing, screen isn't the best ... Let's see what I think.

I'm not sure why you'd even try but I can't say I'm unhappy about it.

Almost bought a i-5 Toshiba for £350 before discount but at the last minute went for the HP G6 i-5 in Charcoal.

Thanks for the heads up OP!

'On a personal note' - that's exactly what it is, personal. You just want a computer for internet access, so of course that spec is fine for you. Other peoples' personal requirements will be different. Some people will want to play games, and you wouldn't be able to play a lot of games with just 1gb of RAM. Some people will use their computers for work, and they might be photographers, video editors, animators, modellers or programmers and a lot of the software they use will require higher specs.
If you only need internet access, then great, you could spend £2-300 on a nice laptop that will last you until it breaks down 10 years later. If you need it for work, you might get frustrated running the programs you need on 1gb RAM because they won't run smoothly, or at all. Regardless of your requirements, 15% off is a nice discount!

Very nice. I've got a PB AIO (i3 2100, 4gb ram, 1.5tb) in the home study/office, Angry Birds and Popcap games are fantasic on it. You're gonna love it.

Nice spec but surprisingly no HDMI

I checked and it should have one:

"Video interface 1 x HDMI"

EDIT: Unless you're talking about the Toshiba, which I didn't get for that reason and a couple of others...
