Seems it is Costa Coffee shops located within "Road Chef" service station areas:

http://racsmiles.co.uk/index.php?id=20

When you’re travelling long distances, especially on Britain’s motorways, it’s important to take regular breaks. RoadChef Motorway Services have 29 service stations across the country from Taunton on the M5 across to Maidstone on the M20, the M6 and M1 as far as the Scottish borders on the M74.
So take a well earned break and enjoy a 15% discount when you stop for refreshments. Many sites have recently been refurbished and include new facilities such as their complimentary business lounges available at six locations.
RoadChef is the only place on the motorway where you can relax and enjoy a real CostaCoffee. Treat the family to a Wimpy, enjoy a freshly cooked meal in the main restaurant and stock up on magazines and snacks in the main shop. RAC Members save 15% at CostaCoffee, Wimpy, in the self-service restaurant and in the main shop. Just show your valid RAC membership card at the till

Don't forget to ask for Fair Trade. Same price to you, but the farmer gets an extra 10p.

Ive used this in a motorway services during the summer, but I'd forgotten about it so thanks for the reminder. Not tried it at highstreet / instore costas though.
#7
Just had a look on the RAC website and it seems to suggest that it's only valid for Costa Coffee at Roadchef Motorway Services.

Found quite a few discounts though, see www.racsmiles.co.uk for details. ;-)

Dreadful coffee. Admittedly nowhere near as bad as Starbucks, but still awful.
#11
15% off is good but why not buy in cheaper coffee shops & save upto 50% off Costa prices.

I think thats because its probably trendy where people like to give their money to big companies instead of supporting the individuals. I would say their coffee was average. If super markets sold a jar of coffee that tasted the same & gave only 5 - 10 cups of coffee people wouldnt pay £3 so why pay it just for 1 cup.
#15
Er... home ground and home made coffee is the best. But if you're stuck between a rock and hard place the costa/starbucks will do.
#16
good spot for the shop and wimpy but costa coffee AKA costafortune is garbage. the coffee is well over priced and seems to attract a weird kind that look like animals in a pen at the zoo every time i walk past one. they also charge for wireless internet!

i personally like normal coffee at a normal price and free wireless internet. mcdonalds all the way:thumbsup:

Now that's not the first time I've heard that and I might test drive McD coffee tomorrow.

wanted: valid rac card. anyone?

costa is just like starbucks and all other chains - awful, overpriced coffee served by students and others with no clue about coffee.

Support independent coffee shops - much better coffe at a third of the cost, and nicer atmosphere.
#20
Perhaps it's just an Essex thing :giggle:, but McDonalds in my area are all full of teenage yobs. Think I'd rather sit with the animals in Costa, drinking overpriced coffee.

I believe you can receive discount in Nando's if you're with the RAC/AA (Can't remember which one). I remember once asking for discount (being cheeky) and they said I was eligible for discount if I was with the RAC/AA but I'm not with either of them.

Sorry for posting this in the wrong area, thought it might work for some of you guys.
#22
guys this is a deal site for getting us good deals
whether u take them up or not is your choice - we are free not like poor pakistan at the moment
the point is if you do buy it this deal gets it 15% cheaper
#23
From sketchy memory, but similar discount at Moto services with an AA card too. Might even be 20%.

They're definitely not as bad as Starbucks - Costa at least make the effort to use midpriced beans. Starbucks just make overpriced foamy milkshakes with the minimum actual espresso in them, and what little is there is very low standard.

And although Cafe Nero's aren't the greatest places, they do at least give you 2 shots of espresso in your drink by default.

does RAC membership cover nervous breakdowns?

I wonder because I will probably have one after paying that much for a coffee and would like to be recovered safely.

I agree with you about the overpriced part but not about the lack of knowledge. My brother works at Costa and when he first started was sent away to "coffee college" to learn the basics. Since then he has had to take several courses to get himself upto "Barrister Maestro" where he can train others. As with any workplace their will be some numpties.

Saying all that I prefer Starbucks. :giggle:

You should watch the Southpark episode Gnomes.

I guess he thinks that Costa deserve the money more than the growers because Costa has a monopoly over that industry.
Either that or he thinks it tastes worse- which isn't true because Costa don't cut corners like that.

Possibly he's of the opinion that the market price gives the best signal of true demand for coffee growers, and that the payment of an arbitrary premium would distort that and therefore encourage oversupply or other inefficiencies further down the line?

We can only speculate!

"No fair trade is ****" could just mean he hates the lack of fair trade coffee. :giggle:

"No, fair trade is ****" Would be more about how he thinks it's a marketing gimmick. But then again I failed GCSE English.
