the homebase sale is a joke! i went to buy a bathroom there two years ago, and my friend told me to wait as there was a sale shortly. about two weeks later the "sale" started, the bathroom suite i wanted was in there still and in the sale. but for the same price-theyd put the price up! i complained and they guy told me that this happens alot. not sure if its changed now but i dont go shopping in there anymore...:(
#4
I have noticed that myself on certain items. But the majority is genuinely discounted in my experience.
#5
We've always been pleasantly surprised with the sale offers . They are not the cheapest place around but we've always managed to get the odd bargain

Same as most shops then !

Starts today folks, confirmed on website.

These 15% events seem to be coming around on a monthly basis now, not that i'm complaining.
Good timing for a bit of bank holiday diy ! :)
#11
homebase will fold and go into administration like focus.
#12
15% off everything no minimum spend this Friday 27th & Saturday 28th May. I like it.
#13
Very incompetant staff.

They reduced a £100 Hozelock auto hose to a ridiculous £4 cos it had attachments missing.

I got rid of that embarrassment for them - Very quickly :)
#14
Homebase - the most expensive of the DIY sheds. Only buy there if nowhere else has the item. You'll also find that sister brand Argos is often cheaper for the same item!
#15
been watching a fridge on argos, will buy it here. 15% saved. Thanks

In a Homebase far far away...

The little grey connector on the side of the main reel is missing!!!! its about 2mm smaller than the ones they sell and you cannot buy it alone. So guess what everybody picks them off and swaps them for the ones in the plasitc pot at £1.79. I know, i've done it!! And seen other people looking distinctly shady doing the same thing...don't worry people i share your pain.

And the cycle of hozelock reel discounting contiunes....

No chance, it's part of Argos, the most cash rich company on the high street at the mo!

Actually, no. Homebase is the weakest of the surviving DIYs, and Argos is NOT doing well at all.

But having said that, administration is not on the cards at this stage!*

*unless you know something I don't!

I'm no expert in these matters, but doesnt sound like they are doing that6 badly.

As Homebase and Argos are still making profits - less at the moment, something to do with the recession - I don't think they are going bust anytime soon!

They would say that, wouldn't they?

There's been several articles in newspapers recently showing that their recovery - esp Argos - is seriously lagging the market and other retailers. In fact, over the last couple of years, as the stock market has slowly risen, to HRG has slowly fallen - at much the same rate.

Bad news for them, but means they have to keep giving the bargs to get people through the doors!

FOCUS IS BEING BOUGHT BY B&Q

No its not, they are buying about 30 stores they are not buying them all

FOCUS IS BEING BOUGHT BY B&Q

B&Q is kingfisher, which also own Screwfix. And they are only taking the choice site from focus for next to nothing. Focus is dead.
#25
Not quite. The administrator is selling 180 Focus stores to whoever, B&Q have agreed to buy 31 of them.

Oh the joy!

I just had to take back over £400 worth of gear to get my money back and then buy it all again to save £60+

I do the same thing all the time! :)

Hi guys i work for homebase in birmingham kingsheath in the office, i deal with these offers and reducing.

We reduce things because of damaged packaging, we get a yearly audit (due anytime now) and one of the audit points is anything damage has to be sold at low prices, we use to just throw these in the skip so the £4 we made from the hozelock is much better than we ever have done.
#30
Well it's off to homebase to see what I can find! :)
#31
Anyone else been having trouble ordering on the website?
Ordered a sofa last night, order went through but no email and they don't seem to have any confirmation...
Apparently they don't know how many orders from yesterday were successful and how many just cancelled out

I always thought you reduce things because your largely uncompetetive in the market.
#33
It's awesome they're doing this. I needed a spade today,. was up for £7.99, got it under £7. Not much, but didn't realise it was on. A pound is a pound and means it all goes towards petrol these days. Heat added
#34
Went in today, got a reduced 5 piece tefal set for around £38. £12 cheaper than argos. :)
#35
Not sure why it was so quiet in our local Homebase! It's usually packed with people when they have 15-20% off. Look a bit weird to me as if it's 15% increased price day.
