Up until 18th December 2008 one adult and one child can travel to anywhere in Scotland return on First Scotrail for £15.00. To qualify just buy something from a Sainsbury's supermarket and you should be given a "Check out Scotland for just £15 return" voucher which you can then use to buy your tickets.

Tried the link as planning to go up to Edinburgh in December (before 18th) and says cannot create tickets for promotion :x Doesn't want to give discount for a Friday ???

Does it have to be a child AND an adult? Or can 2 adults go up for just £30?
#6
Good find.

Two adults can go for £30 although you will probably need two vouchers. Only exclusions are Saturday 8th and Saturday 15th November 2008. I think there are sporting events on on those days. Need to travel after peak time i.e. after 9:15 am.

You can also book via telesales on tel 08457 55 00 33 quoting Sainsbury's offer. Don't need coupon but may be asked to present it if you have you ticket checked on the train.

Where can you travel from? Anywhere in the UK? Or just inside Scotland?
#9
Just inside Scotland I'm afraid.

This probably works like the Family Railcard where you MUST travel with a child or you will be charged a full one way ticket so check the T&Cs before travelling alone.

Bum deal as I can't bear to take my evil monster 9ry old niece with me on a nice day out! ;-)

You DO NOT need to take a child. The free child place is simply a bonus part of the deal.

This fare is only a small saving for trips to Glasgow or Edinburgh but plan a trip to say the highland to Oban and you can save some serious cash. Aberdeen-Oban is for instance £33 single, even when booking in advance.

Great deal. I will treat my girlfriend to nice trip to the west coast. I might visit Mull. The ferry is cheap from Oban.

Thanks to the poster, I would never have seen this otherwise.

You can leave your evil monster niece at home and enjoy a trip to Balamory all by yourself as no kids are required for this offer!

haha notice that Lockerbie and Dunbar are excluded as they might be used as a base for cheap fares to England.
