TOGS??? Only learned feet and inches at school, now we have to know "Togs". Ah well something to contemplate while snuggling under all those old bottles it is made from!!

At 15 togs worth, this must be hot

Thermoregulation

15 togs is the ultimate rating to maintain the perfect body temperature during sleep

Not many people are aware but the tog rating was invented by an Italian and an English pair who never met apart from to sell the product; all they would do was to converse on the phone occasionally. Back in those days the phones we terrible, the line was akin to someone in a tunnel trying to talk to someone in a giffafes stomach, using mobiles on the three network

This meant that conversations were often muffled, like a game of chinese whispers. The desire to produce 'the quintessence of bed time comfort' was put forward by james duvet to his counterpart, who miss heard it as 'the quindici of bed time comfort' or 'the 15 of bed time comfort'

When they got together to discuss their plans, they noticed this glaring difference in their notes, and there decided that the quintessence duvet would be the number 15 duvet

And that stands to this day

Learn something new everyday, eh? Always by 15 tog duvets for winter

Just to say that I got a 15 tog and a 13.5 tog in Dunelm Mill this afternoon.

One was 9.99 and one 7.99 (can't remember which way round).

Not doubting this deal at all... just trying to be helpful

I bought a 15-tog duvet off Ebay last month but still felt a bit cold, so put it in the duvet cover with my 10.5 tog duvet so I now have 25.5 togs altogether. Snug as a bug in a rug. :-D

douvet = duvet

I bought this 2weeks ago in Argos and its the best duvet I have ever had!
Very, very warm and lightweight on your body.
Highly recommend this quilt.

Another recommendation here. I use the king size version plus my summer duvet on top plus a few fleece/blanket things. Plus I normally have a little cat kipping on top of those. There's also the electric blanket. Toasty!
#17
None in stock in my area :(

I got this the last time it was posted and got to say I find it no hotter than my old 13.5 tog, and it appears to be a little smaller than the double its claimed to be. Poor quality also.

I bought two of these last time around.
The covering is that Kind of cheapish cotton like fabric with lots of micro holes in it. The kind that wear into holes very easily. Aslo I put mine on the other night when it was very cold and I woke up freezing!

I put my old Dunelm 13.5 tog back on on it's own and was warm as toast. :0)

You gets what you pay for in my humble opinion.

Edit....... Didn't see Pimp Me's post above before posting but I agree 100% I would go so far as to question that they really are 15tog.

Don't do it! The covers are like hospital disposable pants - we bought one and have ended up being thrown away! For a couple of pounds more you can get the warm as toast one - this is the most amazing duvet - I can not wait to go to bed. It is really fluffy. Whne you put it on the bed it is three times the height of your old duvet - mmmm I am off back to bed!

'kinell !
I got a 15 tog and I'm too hot apart from the coldest, mid winter.
Mind you, it's feather n down.
Is that better?

Or am I just hot stuff?

great stuff, just reserved the single version for £7.49.

"100% spun bonded non-woven polypropylene covers." are the cheapest of cover types there are.
They are also NOT the warmest.
The fibre inside the duvet has been which has been described as "100% supersoft eco-friendly polyester hollowfibre filling, made from recycled plastic bottles." is really the cheapest type of fibre that can be used?
ALL fibre duvets are made from polyester hollowfibre filling. So whats the difference??
For all I can say, pay an extra few quid and get the real deal. A polycotton covered duvet. or if you really want to keep warm and have money to invest, get a goose feather duvet, not duck feather, make sure it has more Feather Down in it than Feathers.
Back to this duvet, im sure you can get a decent cotton covered duvet for the same price.

Anyone recommend a good feather/down one?

Die Zudecke is arguably the finest brand of duvet, but it's quite expensive. It depends whether you can justify the cost given the proportion of your life you spend in bed ;-)
#32
none in preton all sotres, or leyland
