Just received in my inbox from Xbox Live (annoyingly I'd just taken out a new subscription last week)....

Upgrade from Xbox Live® Silver to Gold for 12 months and get 1500 Microsoft® Points free. That's enough for some classic Arcade games, gamer pics, map packs, demos or themes. How you spend them is up to you. Just subscribe to Gold between 23/05/2007 and 20/06/2007 and we'll automatically send you the points. Simply buy a pre-paid 12 month membership card from your nearest game retailer, or sign up for Gold membership through the Xbox 360 dashboard with your credit card. It's as easy as that; but remember it's a limited time offer so don't pass it up.

So it doesnt matter where you get the 12 month subscription from (it doesnt have to be done through xbox live) ??
#2
Good spot :)

If it's true that it isn't necessary to purchase direct from MS, then what's the cheapest deal on 12 months?

That's the way I read it. I'm assuming it's a general offer and not just me, since I'm already fully paid up until May next year and unlikely to sign up for two years in advance!! :giggle:

I am already a gold cutomer but my subs are up. I have a 12 month code to apply today, do you think I will get the 1500 points?

Seems ShopTo, Play and Blah are the cheapest at £34.99

Unless anyone knows of a better one??

£27.99 @ Movies & Games Online - With Google Checkout
#7
It's £27.99 after using google checkout at Movies and Games Online but it's a shame this offer has only come about now, i have plenty of xbox live and i just bought points recently for Gears of Wars new maps and Texas Hold em, spending £17.

This would of come in handy before but i guess that's why Microsoft has released the offer now in order to get more business now that everyone that bought the new maps for Gears of War.

Movies & Games Online says dispatched within 14 days though.

Gameplay.co.uk have it in stock for £32.99 free delivery and quidco.

i also signed up only a week ago
what if i sent an angry/whiney email to microsoft about being "Dissapointed" and "Let Down" i could attach a photo of myself looking really depressed holding the latest keane album.
maybe they will cave in and feel sorry for me

Its a shame they're doing this right after they've just lost a huge chunk of Xbox Live subscribers due to banning their modified consoles...

Might be damage control to keep those all important marketing statistics up, eh...

If you contact ebayers from the US and check that they can email you the code then you can get 12 months subscription for around £15.

I only thought about this the day after i'd just paid £35 at PCWORLD.

The newer 360 codes from the US are now regioned and do not work in the UK.

The old xbox1 codes are ok.
#13
hmm i need to update mine. But i already have a month's free voucher ready to be used.
How much is 1500 MS points actually worth?

Microsoft are thieving bar stewards.

Has anyone confirmed this works on a UK PAL xbox 360? I got the same email, but I assumed it was USA only

wouldnt get too excited:

1) It applies to only those who have been sent the e-mail

2) I took a similar offer up in January, and still no sign of any points despite numerous customer services phone calls.
#17
ive have just taken the deal and no sign of the points i had the email and called up but they have no idea what i was talking about the free points

I'm sorry did you miss the "End Date: 20/06/2007"

It doesn't matter when it started it ended 3 days ago.

I upgraded on 21st May (day after promo went live) and got my points yesterday. In the T&Cs it says eligible accounts will receive their points by 25/06. You have to use them by 30/06. Also there was a points restriction on the number they were giving away but it was so high I'd be surprised if the limit was hit.
#25
I renewed my Gold subscription on 9/6/07 and have not received any points as of today.

I did not get the e-mail, nor was my account Silver so I'm not too surprised!! The deal was still good as I think the days of 12 months Live for £20 are finally over (original xbox starter kits).

Despite all this, I phoned Xbox customer support and they are looking into my account and will let me know in a couple days if they can manually add the points to my account! :-D

I know this is really old now but I thought I'd let everyone know that MS credited my account with 1500 points today! They gave me a phonecall out of the blue today after I made an enquiry about it the other week and this really nice, understanding guy understood that I'd waited months for these points credited my account with 1500 points there and then and also sent me a free wireless headset to boot! Did mention that the points would be only be valid a short while though and suggested I spent them soon..
