Inghams has just chopped over £200 OFF a 7-night ski break to Ruka in Finland, including transfers, so you'll now pay just
£156 per person (based on four sharing). This is a great saving and miles cheaper than similar packages.

You'll be staying at the 4-star Rukasuites Aparthotel in a 3-room apartment for seven nights on a self-catering basis. These new, stylish apartments are located in the town centre, near restaurants, bars and the ski lifts. There is also a supermarket and kindergarten in the same building. You will also get the services of an Inghams tour representative included in the price.

Ruka is located in an area of outstanding natural beauty, just below the Arctic Circle and close to the Russian border. It is one of Finlands top ski resorts with snow-sure skiing all winter and its for families as well as intermediate skiers and snowboarders.

The offer is available for departures from London Gatwick on 11, 18 and 25 January, 2009, but you must book by 17 December. Update (09:48, 15 January, 2009): 25 January departures have now increased by £40 per person.

Travelzoo tip: This deal is even cheaper if it is based on five -- you'll pay just £139 per person.

How to book: Call Inghams on 020 8780 4433 or to book online, click here. Note: The price displayed on the landing page will be for five sharing.

That's no problem, as all the ski slopes in the nordic countries have floodlights. Sometimes you get more skiing up there than you will in the Alps under natural lights!
But I agree that it must be freezing....
Does this deal include lift passes?

I'd put in some other peoples names to make it up to 5 then just 2 of you check in, cant see why that wont work.

Actually it's not freezing, but something like from -5 to 0 Centigrade. See for yourself:

It used to be colder, but for some reason the weather in recent years has been a lot warmer than before...

Fab deal, it's obviously self catering so budget for either some very expensive meals (Finland+ euro) or plenty of cup-a-soups

anyone have any luck with getting this price?? How do i add 5 people??

The room section is puzzling me a bit
#19
Ruka has not got a fantastic amount of slopes though, so don't book somewhere just on the price alone.

This is the info on it on the ifyouski website.

So you have to book 5 people in at the start... 5 passengers. This also bumps the price up accordingly.. So you really do need to get 5 people involved to get this price right??

Or is there a way my girlfriend and i can travel at this price?
#21
whats the bit about sharing a snowmobile and is the free ski package (we are 1st timers) included automatically with this deal or do we have to do something else
#22
Phone them and ask them what the package includes and then go back and book it online once your happy.

Simple.

I can only dream of taking this opportunity -

Nice deal

This offer has been around for months and was limited to a certain number of places, I can't imagine them having any left,

On a brighter note the snow fall so far this season is as good if not better than last year so enjoy.

I have been to Ruka with Inghams for 3 years and going back this year again with them. Always been a great holiday with great skiing. BUT this year Inghams have changed my accomodation at last minute and charged me more for this accomodation, and have now changed the flight from Brittish Airways to Easyjet. So We have paid premium prices now for a budget flight with no refund. I will not be using them again.

I went to Ruka with Inghams last year. That was half board and the food was absolutely terrible. So much so, that we ended up paying for our own meals instead. Then I had an accident and almost broke my leg. The medical facilities weren't great and I was told I had a fracture (after x-rays were taken) and that turned out to be wrong it was just a bad bruise. All in all I thought Inghams have plenty of room for improvement. So much so that I'm not going to use the £200 compensation voucher they gave me. Instead, I'm off with friends to the Alps this year.

The one good thing is that the reps are all lovely, and the Finnish people are fantastic. The slopes aren't bad and the lifts and kighting are excellent.

You get what you pay for.

Last but not least, about the temperature. Yes, it does go down below -25 degrees in Ruka, but you simply make sure you have lots of layers, and as it's much dryer and less humid than the UK, it actually feels less cold. I felt colder walking in London last night than I did in Ruka!

It's offered by the 'Association of Snowsports countries' through various operators such as Inghams.

http://www.freshersskiweek.com/

It does appear to be limited but maybe the resorts not exactly heaving due to the credit crunch which is why Inghams are doing it cheap in the first place? You never know so get on the phone and if you get no joy with Inghams then get in touch with the association as they may be able to provide the passes etc direct. If still no joy then chase it up with the rep when you get there. If you don't ask you don't get.
