  Used to get one free with a Natwest student account for every year of your course, I've been getting one every year for the past 5 years! Not sure if they still offer that incentive though.
  
  Definitely worth it if you travel by train a lot, and you can couple it with an Oyster card to get 1/3 off tube travel.

  If I have an over 18 student oyster card do I still get 1/3 off pay as you go off peak tube travel?? Just wanted some clarification before I get one, thanks.

  That offer was actually for a rail card for 5 years and they only ran it over that summer 5 years ago. Therefore meaning we won't be getting a new one this year :(

  Yes, you just need to go to the tube station and ask them to link up your rail card with your oyster

  Yes you're right, 5 years, I remember now. It wasn't just one summer it ran though, my brother got the same offer 2 years before. Shame it's not running any more, was a much better incentive than other banks were offering (except maybe the Halifax £3000 interest-free overdraft!).

  The Natwest offer has changed this year. It is now a free railcard for 4 years not 5 and you have to have had a current account prior to April 15th (not sure of exact date).
  
  Personally I joined the bank two days before that date so was very lucky.

  Damn, I just renewed mine this week too! For people wondering, if you already have this railcard you can renew it up until right before your 26th birthday (meaning that you could be well into being 26 and still use it!) :) Heat added!

  it's rubbish that you can't use this offer if you are a mature student, I just renewed mine but I saved most of it on a long journey anyway so can't complain.
