Check out this dodgy screenshot from Groupon... taken 14 seconds after the deal went live at midnight... 3 buys already? hmm...

Is 14 seconds really enough time for someone to read through the deal, and go through the checkout process? or are Groupon inflating their deals bought number and misleading customers?

To date I have purchased 2 of their deals and have eaten at two restauarants I would not have ordinarily have tried... regardless of the '14 seconds booking shananigans' I think these vouchers represent good value for money!

Just booked this deal as a freebie by using the credits I had acrued from introducing 3 people... ;)

This deal really isn't that hot though..... TopTable have always had a 50% off deal for Fakhreldine, and while this is more than 50% off, it does mean that only the first £40 you spend will be discounted; presumably you will probably exceed that as Fakhreldine is quite an expensive place.

With the TopTable deal, its 50% off whatever your bill comes up to, so you're not hindered in the final amount and you don't have to prepay and commit today to going to Fakhreldine.

The TopTable website says their 50% offer at Fakhreldine ends on the 19th August. I'm up in London over the August Bank Holiday Weekend, so perhaps this is the only way to sample their restaurant at a discounted price.

You are indeed correct! But as a regular TopTable user, there's a core list of restaurants, including Fakhreldine, that somehow gets new 50% deals starts right after the old one ends ;) Sorta like the pizza express 2-for-1 vouchers last year ;)

If you go via fatcheese.co.uk you get £5.50 cashback, making this an even better deal at £10.50 after you receive the cashback. Search for mycitydeal though, not groupon (although they are the same company).

They're also on tastelondon's books at 50% off. Although for a one off it's not worth the £30 to join.

i dont know about this particular restaurant, but most arab/middle eastern food is tasteless.. no spice, not much seasoning... would this be the same#?

Wouldn't bother; had bad experience there. Problems with seats, having to wait around and took 2 hours, no exaggeration, from order to main course. So bad they offered me a £50 voucher and free bottle of wine which I still haven't used as not that interested in going back, even for free!

I wouldn't say that, there's some lovely spiced kofte and the like. I've eaten at this restaurant and it's quite nice, but what I would say is that it's well worth going to Green Lanes, near Finsbury Park, and eating in somewhere like Mangal. The food is less posh but freshly cooked and delicious, as well as being cheaper than this deal.

As opposed to good old fish and chips or bangers and mash?

Utter nonsense imho.

Says the Mcdonalds muncher no doubt...nothing like ignorance with a smattering of racism is there.

Don't worry Evz1974, I've reported their comments. And as I'm part Lebanese, I'll go back to eating my dead dogs.... *rolls eyes*

No... members of my family own indian restaurants( and not donner kebab takeaways, proper rated wine and dine restaurants) and in comparison the arab food does seem tasteless, having eaten in quite a few arab/moroccon/lebanese eateries.
just because my username is gordon, why do people take me as some 50yearold english fogie who is parallel to jim royle and his mannerisms ... pffft
