1600 Microsoft points for £10.00 instore @ Tesco.

After inspecting the free Microsoft points deal at my local tesco (monkspath), I found that they were included with the purchase of 800 Microsoft points (which tesco were selling for £10). I don't buy them personally; but as far as I'm aware, 1600 points for £10 isn't a bad shout.

I don't think it's possible to buy 1600 points in the UK, but looking around the next cheapest deals are;
1200 points for £8.49 @ 7dayshop (0.723p/point)
2100 points for £15.19 @ 7daysop (0.707p/point)
Microsoft are charging 0.850p/point.

1600 points for £10 works out at 0.625p/point, so is easily the cheapest of the 4.

I couldn't get this in my local store even though it has the yellow promotional tag on the shelf for the free points that the 2100 points and Gold Live card didn't. They kept insisting it was for games only despite pointing out the yellow shelf tag and when they scanned it through it showed as 20 for both.

As in, the discount doesnt come off?

Well, if its clearly displayed on the SEL, then they've overcharged you.

FREE POINTS!

if Tesco overcharge you on anything, then they have a policy to give you double the overcharged difference back! So effectively free!

Gogo!

If the yellow tag says it then you just need to argue the point.

Indeed, I'd be straight at customer services demanding double my money back. FTW.

Might have just turned this from an OK deal into an amazing deal, good enough to even get me off my arse to go down there!
#14
that double your money back thing only works if its not human error andits a till error or soemthing like that,i was overcharged for some shopping once a pair jeans i think it was and i went to customer services and they said oh yer the cashier made a mistake at till and charged twice or soemthing and was told i wont get double money back or whatevercause the cashier made the mistake human error not included.

Or, in non idiot speak that you might actually understand,

What the hell has that got to do with anything?

This is a strange one, because when I was at my local Tesco yesterday, the 800 free points came with only chart "games". While looking at the chart, it was clear as day - at least in my local Tesco, that points and membership cards are not included within the 800 free points deal.

just tried it at kingston park (newcastle) ... took 2 to the nearby counter expecting to get a card and they just looked at me as if I was an idiot ... took them to the chart area and they just gave me another 2 for free ..

Hence the reason i said it

Sorry, this is probably me being thick but how does this work again? You buy an 800 points card for £9.99 and it's BOGOF or something?

Tesco have an offer on at the moment which is free 800 Microsoft Points when you buy selected chart games. An 800 Microsoft Points card, which is £10, is (supposedly) one of the 'selected chart games' so you get your free 800 points with it.

I think it's the 800 MSP free with a chart game offer, also works with buying 800 microsoft points. So basically BOGOF

That's nice for you
You gonna share with us how (assuming it's all legit) or are you just posting that to gloat/wind people up etc?
#28
Provided that the yellow tag offering this deal is still on the shelves, this deal should be honored.
#29
That deal is not bad, i like those codes you get for like littlewoods ect lol but its refreshing to see an instore dealio

just been to the cheltenham store and they had a few left and the ticket said free 800 points so i bought them and they went through wrong, but at customer services they got the ticket and it said that it was for chart games only and i said why is the ticket on the points then and would not give an answer, they just refunded me the 20 quid and left the points! :-(
#31
if people are being refused at the tills, has anyone tried it on self checkout?

Just got back from my local one, they had the 800 point cards on view

HOWEVER

All boxes out said
"Promotional use only, not for sale" or words to that effect on the 800 points block
so wouldn't sell them individually :(

Might try closer to midnight when all the zombie staff are in ;)
#33
This is NOT the deal. In the top left of the shelf label, it says £9.99 - which is the price of the 800 point pack when purchased on it's own. The bottom left of the label says 'when you purchase any chart game' and the right hand side of the label says 'FREE 800 MS POINTS'. They charged me £19.98 at the till and when I went back ten minutes later to say they had mis-charged me, they were quite stubborn about how it was not 'Buy the 800 MS Points pack and get another one free'- they are ONLY for chart games.

This is a misleading non-deal and should be expired.

They were perfectly right to insist so. The shelf label does not state in any way that you get them free with a purchase of 800 MS Points. It's only a yellow sticker because they're on the 'free with a chart game' promotion.

Self checkout will still scan on the same pricing database as their tills. It'll just come up as £19.98.

I suppose it depends how well you argue the toss and how lenient/uncaring the staff are. Some appear to be honoring it, therefore I see it as a good deal (even if it is not the intended deal).

It's not a deal though. If you get away with it because of the staff's uncertainty then that's great- but given that this has only spawned from your mis-reading of the price label, it's not actually a deal in any way, shape or form lol

Why? It's not a glitch.

Only one person in the thread is actually claiming to have 'gotten away with it'- and I'm not even convinced that's true since anyone else who has tried it on has been unsuccessful.
#39
The misleading nature of the tag makes me think it would be possible to get staff to honor the price if you kicked up a fuss. One person in the thread out of five actually getting this price makes me think otherwise. Maybe worth a try if you're there, but not worth going to the shops for. Expired either way.

What to you mean "Expired either way"?? What are the two ways? Either it's clearly expired and you click the expire button or you're unsure and you don't click it.
