The catch for me is that I don't have an aerial and therefore can't pick up freeview :-D

It's an 'As New', not brand new which means:

As New
Items will be in as new condition, but may have been returned to the Original Manufacturer as a failed or incorrect delivery. These items would then be fully tested and reboxed if needed by the Manufacturer and sold "As New" with the Original Manufacturers full warranty or covered by Bigpockets warranty which will be stated in the product description.

In this case, 3 months warranty. Still an exceptionally good price though.

IF you have a DVD recorder then yes, but it would be a bit fiddly and by analogue video signal only. Use SCART interconnet and manually starting each device:

2x SCART out:
- TV SCART out: CVBS, RGB, Audio
- VCR SCART out: CVBS, Audio
- VCR SCART in (pass to TV SCART): CVBS, Audio
- Switching signal: at PIN8 0/6/12 V;

Or use something like this with a bit of adaptation; from the same seller: http://www.bigpockets.co.uk/product.php?lang=&product=HW093

It's a Grade 'A' product (hence only a 3 month warranty) which means its been returned from a customer for some reason. Not always a bad thing. It could just be that they have changed their mind or bought the wrong thing.

anyway of transporting recordings to your PC without having to make an analog dvd recording?

I bought one of the 80GB one of these from Big Pockets, absolutely superb and came "Brand New" including everything in sealed bags.
#11
Surely we need a rule here so people have to put refurb in the title
#12
can you record two or just record one and watch one??

Check the link in post #7. Would need a suitable physical interface - scart to dazzle.

that's a no then

As opposed to transferring files off - could I transfer files onto it ?

Are they avi format ?

I also have a transmitter thingy beaming a signal from sky downstairs to a TV upstairs - working on a scart connector - could I connect this transmitter up to this - then the TV and record ??

Does this make sense to anybody ?

Looks like my old technosonic 1620. I would avoid unless you know what firmware it has.

I bellieve the mainboard is the same as those diy HDD recorders that bigpockets was selling for £10. BEWARE> they were not very good because of firmware issues

Read reviews on Tevion PVR801 and Technosonic PVR 101 to hear about the firmware debacle. I believe these nichimen are just rebranded and refurbed returns of the aforementioned model. You cannot change the firmware and no firmware is perfect. In fact most are rubbish.

That means absolutely nothing to me! Surely if it records programmes and works as a freeview box it fulfils its role? If not, then you have a 3 month warranty period in which to send it back and get a refund.

Seems a very good deal to me so voted hot!

so "may" have difficulty doing its job. You can take a gamble but could loose 2 days of your life dealing with couriers.

Agree yes they might be record, but if its in poor quality etc its really not worth it,

For a few quid more this is a much better product imho.

http://www.microdirect.co.uk/(28382)DigiFusion-FVRT145-FreeView-Set-Top-Box-with.aspx

Chuck an old 120/160GB in it and then upgrade the firmware & change the gui to a far better one, see ( http://www.mousemat.f2s.com/FVRT100/firmwareUpgrade.htm )

If you wanna transfer the tv recordings onto your PC for encoding and/or burning then a cheap usb mod is possible, see ( http://www.freewebs.com/dave_walsh/page2.html )

Got 3 modded DigiFusions in the house all of which have been working perfect for nearly a year :-D

Only 2 PVRs better than the digifusion and thats the humax and the topfield.
But at this price its a bargain better than any of the other cheap brands.

Nice find!

Yes as its twin tuner.

disagree - i have a digihome PVR which is a TWIN TUNER and i cna only record one and watch another. Also cant timeshift while it is recording.
#31
bandsareme
can you record two or just record one and watch one??

Because it has 2 tuners you can record 2 programs at once while watching a previously recorded program.

That is not true logic. There are quite a few PVRs with 2 tuners but they can only record one channel at once.

It is only a bargain if it works fully after 90 days, otherwise it is £39.99 for a 160g hard drive and a box of leccy bits.
BTW, I have had 3 duff Digifusion boxes over the many years they tried to emulate the Pace + boxes. ( Digifusion was set up by the disgruntled half of the two Pace founders)

PVRs are only as good as the support and software commitment the importers have ,hence the success of Thomson, Humax and Topfield.

Sorry the answer is NO.

This records the transmitted digital Freeview signal directly to the hard drive.
#35
My thomson pvr can record two channels and i can watch another previously recorded programe, I thought this was the norm with these?
#36
I had my digifusion 2 years no problems except the power supply and digifusion sent out a new one in days free of charge. My thomson lasted 2 weeks before it was sent back for a refund.BTW it was the digi i was referring too not the box of leccy bits :-D
#37
Anybody having any problems with this PVR ???. Got mine yesterday and it keeps losing the signal and also locking up.
