I know some have managed to con Tesco into knocking off a further 20% but from what I understand the price is £196 including the 20%, however with that being the price Currys offer a price match guarantee and will further beat the sale offer by 10% so I picked up mine for £189.10 very happy :)

You won't be happy if it goes wrong and you need to call on the infamous CURRYS Customer Service!!

Really - don't buy from the DSGi Group of Companies unless you want serious grief if something goes wrong!!

Do a search on DSGi and Customer service BEFORE you commit .... pay a bit extra and get decent service - TESCOS are good.

didn't know that mate thanks for the info hope it doesn't mess up, can't ague over the price though

Is the price of the console instore higher than their online/reserve/collect price? The online price is £229.50

the difference between that and tesco being = £33.50
so with the 10% of the difference that currys give, the final price would be = £192.65

They aren't that bad, you just have to know how to deal with them.

Edit - Just to clarify, the CS is a bit rubbish that much is true, but after sending one or two letters I got the following outcomes;

DVD home cinema - 3 unsuccessful repairs, in the end they gave me a brand new Blu Ray version that was £200 more than I paid
DVD/HDD recorder - mis-sold to me as having built-in freeview, wouldn't accept a return as nothing wrong with it, in the end I got to keep it and received the purchase price of £210 in vouchers.

So I can't say they are useless, they are very slow but they have been quite good to me in my experience.

If it messes up after the first few weeks (not sure if its 14 or 28 says) then you will have to deal with Sony anyway, not Currys?
Unless you purchased Currys care plan.

Or has that changed? It was the case when I had a midi hi-fi from them without care plan.

Nice idea though, if you can get tesco to answer the phone should Currys check.

I picked up a PS3 only yesterday (Tesco) and can't wait to jump on GT5 (which also had the 20% off)

Thanks for sharing op

I hope yours lasts longer than the 3 months mine did. All I did was move it from the bedroom tv to the one downstairs and it broke. After googling "PS3 not displaying on TV" I realised I wasn't alone. Managed to get a full refund from Sainsbury's though and haven't and won't be investing in another.

p.s. ps3 switches output setting when you change output cables. so... if you use a AV cable and switch to HDMI cable the PS3 will leave it on HDMI settings until YOU physically change your output settings ( doesn't help the screen being blank... so go back to your original T.v. and plug both cbales into your t.v)

Hope thats help :-)

p.p.s PS3 is VERY reliable. Should last you over 10 years!!

this is not a deal, why do people still post these possible price matches as a deal, I got the Wii Fit from PC World for £46.50 by getting them to price match Morrisons £50 offer. It was a deal for me but I would have been stupid to put it on here as a post claiming it to be a traditional deal for the massess.

It was nothing to do with the output settings, it was moved from one 1080p tv to another using a hdmi cable and it worked at first but by the time I had made a cuppa and come back the screen was blank. I checked the cables to no avail, turned it off and back on, could hear sound but no picture, took it back upstairs and tried it on the original tv and still no picture. Had a look online for some answers and was told to hold the power button down for 5 secs to reset the console, that didn't work, then read you can hold the power button down for 10 secs to do another reset which I thought worked but the picture just flashed on and off every second, tried the reset thing again but that just made it worse, back to no picture at all. After further reading on the playstation forum I came to the conclusion it was f****d, and like I said before I'm not the only person this has happened to.

I only bought it for GT5 which was a massive disappointment. I traded that in at CEX and got what I paid for it and got my money back for the PS3 so things worked out OK really. I'll stick to my XBOX I think

every £196 deal from tesco went red hot I found a way of getting it a bit cheaper and in my personal circumstances living in Bristol city centre it's easier to get to curry's than a large tesco store.
