what stops me from buying this is seeing 16gb memory

load a couple of videos and you are out of space, I need at least 64gb for it to be a no hassle slate

Do you know where I can get floppy disk drives from?

If all you really need the extra storage for is watching movies, just unlock + root the device and, hey presto, USB drive mounting possible.

I used the WugFresh Nexus Root Toolkit and followed this guide:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sK9avekmA1c

Couldn't have been simpler! Slapped CWM on it and installed the Motley kernel v1.1.1 build 219, from here:

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1775798

Been watching 720p movies from a USB drive using an OTG cable (£1.50 from Amazon Marketplace) and StickMount. This is the drive if you're interested, works brilliantly and the write speeds are way above the 30MB/s estimate via USB3!

http://www.7dayshop.com/7dayshop-memory-high-speed-usb-3-0-flash-key-drive-black-capless-swivel-64gb-30mb-s-new?q=64gb%20usb&sl=sl

Much cheaper than paying a huge premium for extra on-board storage and I now have plenty of space on the tablet for apps, docs + music. Also running Nova launcher and a stable overclock of 1.5GHz using the recommended System Tuner app - everything runs much smoother. Especially games, been playing Dead Trigger using my PS3 controller (search 'Sixaxis Controller' in the Play store).

So many benefits to rooting, and the device is otherwise fantastic.

I know, kinda put me off at first too, but my missus has a 16GB ipad and is still no where near using it up.

"Price Crash" :p

what the best value for money 10 inch tablet at the moment ,

Very good price, I don't own the tablet personally (after huge deliberation I've decided not to bother with it) but it's a brilliant product.

Cold because with extra £20 you're able to get the Samsung Tab 2 10.1 inch 16 GB with micro sd slot

I just sold this for the 64gb blackberry playbook i got this weekend.

Had a play with one of these in Tesco today....nothing wrong with it but nothing to make me change from my CM9'ed Touchpad.

Is the blackberry play book better ? My mums after a tablet so just doing a bit of research
#13
Is the code exclusive to Quidco members?

IMHO

Playbook has better build quality, 4x bigger storage, and £60 less

Nexus 7 has better apps, stronger CPU

Screen is equal, lower resolution in playbook but better quality.

Currys/PC World had a load of 10" Xoom's available for £135 last week but that doesn't make the Samsung cold. Different people want different things, I'm in the market for a 7" as I want something light and portable to travel with.

Only ~80 Xoom available and the deal expired in very short time.

If the Xoom deal you mentioned was big enough like the Playbook 64 GB deal, I think the Samsung Tab 10 will not get hot like this.

Did they honour the price then ?

Shame no collect in-store and don't think I can be bothered to wait until the 5th for this.

Would have been a lot better/hotter if they had them in-stock, ready to ship tomorrow or collect in store.

Good deal. I was so close to buying but got the Samsung tab2 10.1. The bigger screen and expandable memory. With the Samsung cash back of £50 plus 5 / discount and quidco it was only £225. Think that's a better deal taking everything into account
#23
Hey guys

Does anyone know what the return policy on this would be if it had a defect (like those others have experienced) - would you it be similar to what others have done when purchasing from the online Google store, such as a replacement and return? Anyone bought and returned one from Comet?

Many Thanks

Ordered the pb 64gb for £129, could have collected instore today but cba to go out in the rain after nearly 2 weeks of sun in France so going tomorrow.

Bean looking for a viable ipad alternative since my sgs2 contract ended in june and even if the pb doesn't cut it for less than £130 it's a brilliant stand alone media player and tool for the little one on long journey's.

I'm kinda thinking no matter what price the slate RT / iGo mini ipad launch at that combined with the quad core nexxus 7 than the options will increase rapidly after the xmas launch rush / price premium has ended.

I love my droid's, have no time for Apple but would give RT a chance.

My personal experience with a faulty tablet was they like to not believe there's a problem and make getting a refund very difficult. I had to speak to a manager but there return terms are clear on there website so just stand your ground.

No need to panic about lack of storage, you can pick up an OTG cable on the bay for around a quid, then download media transfer from the play store, you can then get a cheap USB drive and you are good to go without the need to root your nexus.
#28
Wanted to get the playbook deal but once I played with one instore the screen resolution was awful compared to my iPad retina display, is the nexus 7 better than the playbook? Apple have ruined me as I even look at my Samsung HD TV and wish it was higher resolution.....
#29
COLD might as well buy a Nexus 7 for this price. Oh wait.

Storage OTG is now available without rooting.

Get up to date people.

By the way this is not a technical forum but is for price deals.

The Playbook is a very good tablet, but it has very few apps available for it. If you just want an email and web device then the playbook is great. If you want to make use of apps the playbook is very very far behind the rest. You can't even get Skype for the Playbook for example.

It has a front camera, but not a rear one. So it works well for Skype etc... but you'll need a camera for taking photos. But then again it always looks odd people taking pictures with tablets anyway.

The no sd card isn't too much of a problem as others have mentioned with a few hacks you can have external storage.

Reading the XDA forums, the Nexus 7 is still being pushed out with screen lifting/screen issues. I'd love to get one but I am reluctant to do so until the manufacturing problems are resolved.
