Fair price, not sure about quality. Why does someone go for this ahead of a 2.5" harddrive? 8gb deal that was posted a few days ago should be enough for portable data?

One thing to remember - you can never have enough. You may think 8gb s enough now but thats what people were saying about 1gb and through the years. What with everyone having movies, music and 'normal' data 8gb can be filled very quickly. For office files etc though yes 8gb will be enough in most cases.

Yeah but at that price just buy a 2.5" drive surely! 8gb will be enough to move files/photos/small videos around, but at £35, you might aswell well get a mini harddrive than a 16gb stick? Just as portable! There have been Amazon deals posted in the past month for 80gb-120gb 2.5" hard drives at £35 and under :)

A 2.5" HD is massive compared to a usb stick (even a 1.8" hd is large in comparison).

A usb stick can be shook about as much as you want with no ill effects, the same isn't true of a HD.

32gb memory stick does seem somewhat pointless though - 12-16gb (big enough to store a DVD9 on, with space left over) and a large capacity 3.5" HD in an external enclosure seems the best solution.

A 2.5 inch HD is a limbo device - not as portable as a usb stick and doesn't hold much data compared to a 3.5" HD (at least that was true until recently - 500gb 2.5" are now available; but nearly 3x the price of a 3.5").

i would rather buy a 2.5" hdd as well.

Depends really what you are using it for.

I'm looking for a cheap 16gb or 32gb USB stick to play music in the car. HD isn't suitable and I want to get as much music on as I can.
