Looking at the reviews on Play.com if you are after a bit more speed then for another £1.50 the Lexar 16GB seems to have superior test results.... otherwise the best price for a 16GB micro SD!

Surely this is a better deal:

Ok it costs more but 16gb Class 10 for 17.99?

Please correct me if i'm wrong otherwise I will be ordering one!

You would think. But the ones you post is a bit of a scam. The cards in the £17.99 deal have been coming broken, unbranded and nothing like class 10 performance. Some people have been fine, others haven't. It's very hit and miss.

It got a hammering on this site though

with people getting unbranded cards and reports of unreliability

That is not exactly what I would call a hammering out of the 12 posts 4 people said they had the card and it was fine most of the other posts are people saying they 'heard' that these were rubbish....you always have to read between the lines on here and make a decision for yourself....I will get one and let you know how it is...

Holding out for a 32GB for under £30.

The price difference between the 32GB cards and the 16GB cards is huge.

Lol, I don't know what you or the others are on about to be honest.
A micro sd card comes in one shape only - they are all the same. Or else as you say, they wouldn't fit.

I bought two 16Gb class 10 Micro SDHC cards for £19.90 each from a deal that was posted on here and they were slower than the class 4 Lexar my mate bought from Play.

They came unbranded and possibly the same batch as the ones being sold by Play.

I did some changing of the splashscreens and bootanimation on mine and my gf's San Frans and afterwards they both stuffed up and became impossible to reformat so now I'm on the lookout for two replacements. This looks a good deal. Avoid the unbranded class 10's people.

Why is this so hot considering its only £1 off their RRP??

personally I would only trust Sandisk, Lexar, Toshiba or Samsung flash, from a reputable supplier in proper sealed retail packaging with all the holograms etc intact. There's just too many fakes in the retail channel.
These four are the only, AFAIK, actual manufacturers, with the other brands simply buying from them, sometimes buying batches which fail and retesting/regrading to a lower grade and putting their own name on them.
Sure, you'll save some money, but you'll regret it, maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, maybe not until 6 months down the line or more when the card is unreliable or slow.
#31
Beware if you're planning to buy this for an Orange San Francisco. Several brands of MicroSDHC fail including this one. The Sandisk 16Gb from Play has been shown to be the most reliable.

Agree, class 10 over class 4 for £5 more is a no brainer.

I would have said the no-brainer was a brand name class 4 for £1 or £2 more. Class 4 is sufficient for almost all smart phones.

Are you aware of avoiding wasting your precious time chasing a retailer by simply avoiding purchasing a crappy product in the first place?

Sorry but not being omnipotent as you must be, I am unable to judge the quality of products before I buy them.
This applies to both branded and unbraded products.
Please carry on and enjoy your perfect life.

I am not omnipotent, I have another superpower. I can read.

I can read comments and reviews posted by other people who have been burned by buying dodgy products, then avoid making the same mistake.

Thanks.
