Fair point, though Tesco were everywhere now :whistling:

In all fairness I don't even know if is this price in other stores, am awaiting further comments...

you need the contour model if u want decent speeds.
this is good for lighter usage (docs, files etc)
i run firefox and thunderbird off mine (2GB)
but i agree loading large files (videos etc) is a pain in the r-sole

Argh, bought one from Tesco (urgent need for storage) yesterday at 19.95. Booger. Good deal and works a treat, doesn't seem particularly slow but hey ho.
#10
good deal.. added hot.
#11
Excellent price if you can find one - I will despatch the missus to tesco complete with picture and full description - so she can't get the wrong one!:w00t:

I love the retractable design, better than having a separate cap to lose.

When I get a 32GB one, it will be one of these Cruzers. I don't carry a lot of data around but I use them to back up data to.

I bought one of these last week, but I was afraid that it would be awfully slow because I had read some reviews that said it was. I am happy to report that the speed, for my needs anyway, is more than acceptable.
Transferred 4gb of video files in about 3 minutes.

It's prob getting voted cold because of its availability or lack of. Not sure where my local homeplus store is, but its not close by, and wouldn't want a wasted trip.

Not voting either way :)

I'm voting hot as a good deal.

I've just started using one of these in my car with my new kenwood stereo as it has a usb port so i don't have to keep plugging my mp3 player in via the audio input. So far am very pleased with the way it works and will prob get a couple till i see a cheap 32 gig one that's as good more so i can have all my music files to hand in the car. (My 60 gig zen is full to bursting)

regards
Andrew

I'm guessing you were drugged by enemy agents who set your clock back when you fell asleep cause there's no way this model could make that transfer that quickly.

You must have the Extreme Contour version, which can write at about 18 MB/s if you can get the best out of the Extreme Contour, 4GB would take about just under 4 minutes.

So, 3GB in 4 minutes on the Extreme Contour is credible.

Hot deal....I got 2 of the 8GB version, a great usb stick.

I hate these supermarket deals....none of them are close to me.

4GB in 3 minutes gives a write speed of 22.2 MByte/s which is almost as quick as the Cruzer Contour (25 Mbyte/s) and the other manufacturers fast memory sticks. Since the standard Cruzer only gives about 5.5 MBytes/s under typical benchmarks your results seem somewhat optimistic?

Extreme Contour reads at 25, writes at 18.

:x I've just wasted fuel driving around to 2 Tesco Extra Stores in Coventry (Walsgrave & Ricoh) looking for this offer! They had them on the shelf for £19.97. Picked one up, got it scanned and it came up as £19.97.

Can you tell me which Tesco store had these for £14.95?

Thanks.

I'd have to agree unfortunately. Writes crawl along at a paltry 2 or 3 MB/s, which is pretty dire when you compare it to the Class 4 Sandisk 8GB MicroSD card which can do a touch under 20MB/s using it's MicroMate Reader. Good if you need the storage, but don't count on it if you want to constantly transfer large files between PCs. It'll be alright for things that can stay on the drive though - CD images and the like though as read speeds are more respectable.

Even at 3 mb/s thats a 700mb avi copied in under 4 minutes - that will do for me. For anything bigger, go and make a cuppa......The drive will fill up at that speed in about an hour (quoted as 50 mins on the review page at play) which should be ok too - provided you are not doing it every day (which would be a bit of a bind admittedly)

20 quid in Kings Meadow (Reading).

My opinion is the deal will be like hens teeth, the device has limited use (those who want to put 16 GB of music on it while they do somethin else - i.e. have a siesta or bath - or those who enjoy watching paint dry). The deal is hot, the availability is not, the item is cold (unless you know what it is & it suits your usage).

Would have to vote the deal hot, but its already hotter than it should be, so not voting

Cold - there's only ten stores around the country. The Title is misleading. only HOMEPLUS
#31
19.95 in peterborough

Shocked this got as hot as it did, based on my post of stock in 1 store, despite nobody else being able to find it locally still exceeding 700 is madness :w00t:
