Great price for a fast drive.

I have just checked the website and they have changed their stock quantity from Plenty to On Order, I received an email from them stating they are expecting another delivery soon!

these are good as I have one... Mine went into the washing machine with my jeans and came out still working fine! Although the cap has become slightly loose now...

If the Write Speed: 14mb/s (95x) is true, it's the fastest 16Gb write speed I've come across for the money. Gone up to £17.99 btw, but still worth it over 'slower' to 'much slower' drives recently posted at HUKD that cost £1-2 cheaper (arranged from slowest to fastest - tentatively):

16GB USB 2.0 Flash / Key Drive £15.99 @ 7dayshop
ByteStor 16GB USB High Speed "Dataferry" Pink Flash Drive - £15.95 @ Amazon
SanDisk Cruzer Micro 16GB USB Flash Drive - £16.99 @ Play.com
16GB USB2 Flash Dane Elec Nacre - RAPID 170x [Read] £16.99 Delivered @ 7dayshop

I think anything with a write speed of 9mb/s & above isn't too bad.

Did you compare the speed with any other similar drive you may own?

hi mate it is faster than my Sandisk Cruzer but slightly slower than my friends Sandisk Contour - although he paid silly money for it.... It is also faster at writing to than the Corsair Flash Voyager but slighly slower at reading to... And MUCH faster than the play.com twist ones - those two we have at work.... I can try and get a reading from Vista by reading/writing data to it tomorrow....

Damn, the PNY 16GB Optima has jumped up to £28 on Play, used to be £16/17 :-(

Thanks for the comparison info twe:). It's what I thought it may be - as good as/better than some of the much dearer Corsair drives.

The 16Gb Optima has been that price for quite a while now. I think you're confusing it with the relatively inferior Premium model which was recently posted on HUKD for £16-17 (now £45 :w00t:). I've the 8Gb Optima, which is no slouch at 10mb/s - fastest drive I've owned so far.

Why oh why .......... do manufactures put the hole for the "Attachment Connector" on the cap.

This means you lose your Memory Stick, but keep the cap. ....Ahhhhhhh !!!!!!!!!

£15.99 here, in stock with free delivery.

Same model but speeds quoted are much lower for some reason.

* Read speed of up to 11MB/s
* Write speed of up to 4.2MB/s
* USB 2.0 high speed specification
* 5 Year Warranty.

I thought the Premium had gone up to £28 and the Optima was £45!

The names are confusing, they both suggest they're the top model.

Thanks for the links chaps. Wonder why so many conflicting speeds on this :?!? Can't find read/write speeds on the Dane-Elec website either. Are we being 'conned' by some sites quoting higher that rated speeds?

Well that's a MiroSD(HC) card & used for a different purpose to this, so can't really be compared.
#15
They certainly look like exactly the same thing, except for the quoted read & write speeds - i.e. 3 times faster at 7dayshop!
#16
Was just about to submit this but found you'd already done it :P
Looks great to me, considering getting it. Hot!

Edit: To the above comment by Crossbow - The read & write speeds are the same on both websites..?

That's because they've now corrected it at Picstop

Seems well worth the money, & after reading comments by member twe:
