Not quite under the magic £1000 but seems well priced for what you get. Looking at the performance gap between similarly priced laptops (Typically GTX 960/970m or 1050/1050Ti in that price range) the 1060 is much faster. To round that off HP throw in a 75Hz IPS panel capable of G-Sync which is a big bonus and normally comes only in more expensive models.
You also get a 128Gb M.2 SSD and 1 7200rpm 1TB HDD which should be adequate for most.

Negatives seem to be that it comes at the compromise of 'only' including an i5-6300HQ processor clocked at 2.3GHz, which should still be fine for gaming, and only 8Gb of RAM which should be easy and inexpensive to upgrade if you don't mind the additonal cost. The build quality and weight are less than amazing, but are not disappointing either.

The 17 inch Omen laptop seems to review much better than the smaller model. As far as I can tell the screen is decent and the performance solid. It seems to tick all the right boxes for performance without any huge compromises, and might be worth a try for those of you looking for a laptop with a lot of power that doesn't break the bank like ASUS or MSI's laptops.

I'll give my own impressions once mine arrives if anyone has any questions.

P.S: I'm new here. If you vote cold let me know why or what better deal you found!

Shame about the huge screen size, lack of memory and 6th gen i5... but we're nearly getting there for me to bite.

Really good spot! Still a bit more than I can justify. Screen looks excellent (and significantly better than 2017 HP Omens!)

Bigger is better for me. If you prefer portable OCUK have 20% off an MSI 14 incher with 970m, g sync and an i7. £950 i think.
You'll probably have to wait a little longer for one that cheap with a gtx1060. Depends what you value.

Cheers. ATM I'm asking too much for too little, I know this and I'm realistic in that I'll have to wait it out a little longer for what I want. Either that or a 0% finance for a 1070 around £1500.

This is a good deal, and like you say, near that £1k mark. The compromises made to get that gtx 1060 in are worth it. I'd rather have a 1060 with an i5 6th gen than a 1050 and an i7. A 7th gen i7 and 1060 combo are £1.3k plus, maybe slightly less on offer.

The equivalent asus spec machine is £1129, so brand preference comes into play really. I have the asus and prefer the chassis, build quality and after sales/support. But ME:Andromeda ran fine for me on ultra and I didn't have any issues.

You're probably right. I know it's overdone but I'm a sucker for red/black. The Omen is a very pretty machine.
You can put together a decent 1070 build on PC Specialist for £1.3-1.4k so branded retail laptops with i7's and 1060's seem very badly priced in comparison. I was surprised to see one below £1.1k and was expecting the omen to use a TN panel as a result. Seems very high quality though so far, I'm very impressed with it for the price.

I just ordered this laptop from laptopdirects.com after coming to the same conclusion as you. Worth the money. The second choose would have been the Asus rog GL702 which cost £1129 but after googling around, I found more threads about overheating and GPU throttling on this Asus model than Hp omen (might be due to the very slim dimensions asus has, and hence, bad cooling, even with 3 fans?) So, to be safe, I went for Hp omen.

However, I just received it today BUT they sent me the wrong laptop!!!! Now I have to wait for recollection tomorrow and probably it will take a week before they can send the correct laptop.....

Wow that is... really not good. I researched the company beforehand and they seem trustworthy. Hopefully their customer service should be up to scratch.
Fortunately mine came without any problems. Was it a different spec of the same product line they sent you or just another laptop alltogether?

They sent me a HP 255 G5, a completely difference laptop. So, I am waiting for DPD to collect the wrong laptop later today.

And it will probably take 2-3days for them to get it back, followed by them sending the correct laptop which will take 2 days... All these debacle is frustrating. I guess I will make sure to open and inspect the product before signing for the next delivery..

I really wouldnt be surprised if it was DPD's fault, slapping the wrong dispatch note on it etc. They seem to mess up a significant portion of their deliveries... seems nearly every time I hear about something going wrong with someone's internet order they have a hand in it!
Hope it all works out for you. Not exactly what you want when spending that much money.

Doubt it was parcelforce's fault (delivery was done via them but collection later will be done by DPD) cause the invoice note inside the package was Hp omen.
