Not quite under the magic £1000 but seems well priced for what you get. Looking at the performance gap between similarly priced laptops (Typically GTX 960/970m or 1050/1050Ti in that price range) the 1060 is much faster. To round that off HP throw in a 75Hz IPS panel capable of G-Sync which is a big bonus and normally comes only in more expensive models.
You also get a 128Gb M.2 SSD and 1 7200rpm 1TB HDD which should be adequate for most.
Negatives seem to be that it comes at the compromise of 'only' including an i5-6300HQ processor clocked at 2.3GHz, which should still be fine for gaming, and only 8Gb of RAM which should be easy and inexpensive to upgrade if you don't mind the additonal cost. The build quality and weight are less than amazing, but are not disappointing either.
The 17 inch Omen laptop seems to review much better than the smaller model. As far as I can tell the screen is decent and the performance solid. It seems to tick all the right boxes for performance without any huge compromises, and might be worth a try for those of you looking for a laptop with a lot of power that doesn't break the bank like ASUS or MSI's laptops.
