It's back down again, Missed out last time so in the basket,

THE GODFATHER is a chilling portrait of a Sicilian family's rise and near fall from power in America, and the passage of rites from father to son. Based on the novel by Mario Puzo. THE GODFATHER - PART II continues the saga of two generations of power within the Corleone family. Rounding off this epic trilogy, THE GODFATHER - PART III sees Michael searching for his successor and a way of freeing his family from a life of crime.

PS, It's on Blu Ray!!!

amazing movie no doubt....but the only reason prices for blu ray are coming down is coz they are making way for 3D BLURAYS....imagine seeing HD in 3D well very soon its gonna happen and then these blurays will cost a fiver....i guess

Nonsense surely, how are they going to make Godfather 3d now? And would we really want them to if they could?

Is this still the version that has 20 mins of the second film missing? In which case probably a pointless purchase no? Not voted either way.

Hopefully their not stocking the faulty Blu rays of the Godfather anymore. I know Amazon have sent all their faulty ones back , Worth checking with HMV though.

Thought it was common knowledge that 3D LCD's are coming out this year, probably coincide with a 3D Avatar Blu-ray release

In my 20 years I've still never seen this trilogy - at this price though I think its worth the plunge.

Hot from me.

Yep this the faulty part II batch...

Possible affected units can be identified by the catalogue reference BSP2032 appearing on the spine and with the barcode reference 5 051368 203232 on the slipcase.

Only a minority of films will be coming out in 3D, and it won't really take off until 2011, with a few coming out this year. Its also unlikely that everyone is going to go out and get a new HDTV capable of 3D, especially since HDTV is only now becoming big in the UK.

Regardless, The Godfather wasn't filmed in 3D.

How would you have found that out :w00t: and what excactly are wrong with them? Does that mean that the Amazon one's would be the same

The symptoms of the possible fault are that the disc for "The Godfather Part 2" will not play.
Chapters 14-16 of Godfather II (disc 2) it freezes/skip/jump around in the middle 1h 41min...

The same issue with is with the batch regardless of the retailers...its a manufacturing balls up....they know it and still selling it... i guess there are a rather lot to shift :)

ps you may still end up with a good one...some you win..some you...

I already have this trilogy on DVD. Is it really worth buying this again on blu-ray? is the quality that much better?

Just got this set myself.

The Blu-Rays are great but this is not a movie that is made better by the clarity of the visuals. If I had the DVD set (as I do with Band of Brothers) I would not bother to upgrade yet.

YMMV

Just got mine today and I have a faulty disc that freezes at 1:14:32 on the second disc, I would recommend anyone who has gone for this to check that disc as soon as you get it. Does anyone know if I can return the box set to a HMV store?
