Another hot buy from Tesco Direct, bought a mattress yesterday which I found on this wonderful site (compulsive buyer!!!). When you buy the sim you get free delivery - return the sim for your money back - hence 10 quid for the weights.

Can anyone expand on what weights are included? The description on the site is muddled..

"This dumbbell set includes two 14 threaded chrome dumbbell bars, four chrome spin locks, four 1.5kg cast iron plates, two 1.5kg chrome bars, four 2kg plates and four 1.25kg cast iron plates."

I think that's right other than they mention the bars themselves twice.

4 * 1.5 = 6
4 * 2 = 8
4 * 1.25 = 5

That adds up to 19kg. The picture includes 12 plates, for what it's worth.

could someone advise me please?

i bought two sets plus a sim card.

i asked them to deliver it INSTORE FOR PICK UP.

now, will they allow me to refund the sim card right there and then? without then asking me to cough up the delivery charges??

whats the best way to go about this?

thanks x

The whole point of adding the Tesco PAYG simcard was to allow free delivery to your house. If you want delivery to your local branch of Tesco, assuming they're on the that allow delivery to store option list (since not all branches do), then the delivery should be free anyway and you won't need to add the PAYG simcard.

Customer service desk in any branch. I've done it plenty of times before just like everyone else. Take the invoice (that arrives with the item) with you, they look at it, scan the item and refund the money on to the card you used. You can try asking for cash but I'm not sure that will work.

bolloks, hope they sell out fast

17kg isn't much at all, but its a good start. If you have never used free weights, you will soon need more weight. And if you use them properly, you will soon need a utility bench!

Only do compound exercises(google if you dont know what this is), as they will strengthen large parts of your body. The best exercise anyone can do for their entire body with these is dumbell squats, bench press (if your have bench), and reverse crunches for abs.
Don't waste your time on arm curls, or other isolated exercises, because you won't get any stronger. And you won't get "big guns" with 17kg. So focus on compound which use your natural body weight.
Usually the aim is to do between 5-8 reps, of about 3-5 sets of each exercise.
I started on Stronglifts 5x5 program, which is barbell only, but there is a dumbell program if people want to look at it.

This man knows his stuff, 5x5 ftw ;-)

If you buy these, think of them as a teaser, if you like it, go buy a good set of weights with a barbell. My study room doubles up as a gym room, with weights, bar, bench, all that take up minimal room in the corner when not used compared to a massive exercise machine that isnt as effective as free-weights!

Damm hot! hot! Just ordered one.
#35
appears to be sold out :(
#36
Received today, very nice set indeed. The bars themselves are pretty heavy, think I'll build up to putting weights on them!
banned#37
yep i bought two and both are great.

mine came in black.

someone on ebay has already stuck them on at 25 quid!!

the ones that i got, both looked a little rough round the edges, but cant go wrong at that price.

i might keep 3 bars and sell one bar plus all weights except maybe 2*2kg.

anything over a tenner and im in pocket :-)
