Play.com are currently offering the Pioneer HTP-GS1 Xbox 360 Surround Sound System for £149.99. The actual RRP for this surround sound set is £329.99 and the cheapest I've seen it elsewhere is about £240.

That said, it is currently showing as 'out of stock' but so it was on Sunday when I placed my order, and I received notification today that it has shipped so they are obviously still getting stock in.

In addition, Pioneer are running a promotional offer. Two XBox 360 games will be sent to you free of charge with Proof Of Purchase of this set before 31/01/2007 (the games are Burnout Revenge and Need For Speed : Most Wanted). The following link will take you to the form that needs to be completed and returned ...

Would highly reccomend the unit, purchased just before christmas and it also comes with a free optical cable thrown in. Play.com despatch it via parcelforce 24 hour delivery also

Pioneer are very quick at sending the free games out to you as well and I ended up selling Burnout on ebay for £22 as I already had it

Here is mine setup when I first got it but have now moved things around

I also forgot to mention that if you go through Quidco you also get £6 back for your efforts

yeah saw this set posted somewhere else in this forum, and was debating whether or not to order them, the clincher may be the games but they aren't 100% guaranteed also you have to send your entry in before wednesday 31st to receive them.

ordered them anyway because they do look nice :-D

From memory you had to purchase the system by the end of January and Pioneer had to receive your form by the end of February so that you qualify for the games so you should have time if they have it in stock

Double check the Pioneer site but am sure it is the end of Feb which is the deadline for the games offer and the deadline of the end of Jan was to purchase it

I posted this a while ago but it was deleted :(

I actually own one of these and it's fantastic! The controller works very well with the Xbox. Perfect if you dont already have one and the bonus of being able to control the volume too. The bass is very strong and it's armed 600watts of power. A pure bargain with the free delivery. The speakers dont feel very solid, but the Sub is well made (If a little too big)

The connectivity is great too; I have my optical cable from my xbox, my Sky+ box (optical too), and my Wii (Standard white and reds) all plugged in and can be switched with a push of a button.

The only downside ive found with this is the volume tends vary. For example, you'd have the volume fairly high for quiet moments/talking parts of a film, then all of a sudden action would begin with no notice and ive woken up all my neighbours! Hence I now keep the controller with me (sometimes i even have to hold it just incase!) so as not to disturb.

Explosions, gun fire, music and engine noise all sound brilliant on this. And if you live in the middle of a large field with no neighbours I couldnt recommend this enough!

Bought this from Play for the same price just before Xmas.Item arrived 48hrs later and was simple to set up.

Sound quality is excellent and does indeed come with an optical cable.

Although the website does not mention that Play.com is an authorised dealer,Pioneer will honour the deal and I received my 2 free games after the Xmas rush was over. Also,Pioneer sent back my Play.com receipt.

A fantastic bargain.

Anyone who has any doubts about buying this system, don't have. It is fantastic for the money. I've been using mine since Christmas mainly with the XBox and the odd movie and it still surprises me how good it actually is.
As mentioned above, it has all the connection cables required, quite long speaker cables and you can connect other sources to it.
#12
My only doubt with this set up is that my room is tiny and I dont know if the sound would just bounce and echo off all the walls and it wouldnt be reall surround sound.

Thinking of getting this but under the T+C stated on the Pioneer pdf, the system has to have been purchased from "a authorised retailer only" in order to qualify for the free games. No mention of whether Play is an authorised retailer on the Pioneer website.

If I could get the games then it would be a deal-maker, without them I'm not sure (though it is still a bargain regardless).

I purchased the unit from play.com and Pioneer honoured my claim for the 2 free games so as long as your purchase the system within the timescale you will be ok to receive them

All you need to do is complete the form from the Pioneer site and also send your original receipt from your order and they will send the games back to you along with a letter and your receipt, it's worth taking a copy of your receipt for you records on the off chance they lose your receipt

What games do you get free?

Need for Speed most wanted and Burnout Revenge.

Is any of it wireless? How do the speakers connect to the amplifier? Are they phono connections? How far to do the cables stretch????

:whistling:
#23
2 optical inputs? could connect xbox and computer then?
#24
You won't get the games free from Pioneer now as the small print on the application form states "Subject to availability" and I know for a fact (From another forum I visit) that people have had their orders for the 2 free games declined as per the T's & C's.Others have called Pioneer and been told that they won't be receiving anymore stock of the games. :-(
This was posted on another forum in about November so I'm surprised to see this posted here only today!
When I bought mine from Play.com I sent a copy of my receipt together with the completed application form and got the two free games within about a week.
Thoroughly recommend it by the way as I have it in my office at home and it's first class!!! :-D

Well I ordered two XBox 360 Pioneer systems late December, sent off for the two games and had them delivered shortly after Christmas. So whoever posted that there would be no more games in November was either misinformed or the games came back into stock.

Plus if you read Pioneer's site it clearly says in the terms and conditions:

There are no cash alternatives to this promotion. The games are subject to availability . Pioneer may in its absolute discretion substitute or offer an alternative game of equal or greater value.

So I can't see that Pioneer would not send anything out even if they did have no more stock of the games.

The offer has been up on the Pioneer site now for the last three months or more and it's still there :

I bought two systems from Play.com and received two sets of games.
Where does it say in the terms and conditions that the offer is one set of games per household?? As long as you have made multiple purchases and have the receipts then you are entitled to send for the games.

Also, as long as you have purchases the systems on or before 31st January you can claim for your free games up until 28th February from Pioneer.

So to anyone thinking about it then if it comes back into stock at play.com before the 31st then I would order it quickly and claim your games. I haven't even got an Xbox 360. I bought one system for my folks for Christmas to use as a surround sound system (to go along with an XBox (1) that I modded with XBMC) and have one system for myself for the bedroom. I put both sets of the games on ebay and got around £35 for the two; which meant I got the system for £115! A bargain for a great sounding branded system!

I never said that people had ordered the games in NOVEMBER.What I said was that this offer was posted on another forum in November.... :whistling:
I ordered mine in December, sent the form back to Pioneer in early Jan and got the 2 games the week after.
Just recently (On this other forum I use),people had sent their forms back to Pioneer and then have been notified that the games are not in stock anymore. They called Pioneer only to be told that their stocks of games had run out.The offer is still showing on the Pioneer website as you say but that really doesn't mean that they have games left does it as it clearly states "The games are subject to availability"???
Some people may be lucky based on "Pioneer may in its absolute discretion substitute or offer an alternative game of equal or greater value." but as I said based on responses from people who had actually spoke to Pioneer about the free games it seems highly unlikely...

For the others, the full T's&C's of the offer are here

This is referring to the previous section. So it does read that this all occured and was on a forum in November. So :p :giggle: :giggle:

That aside I would still be very surprised if Pioneer would not honour the offer and at least send replacement games in their place. They were very quick at sending out my two game packs and I have always thought of Pioneer as a very reputable company with good customer service. If this is the case and they are not houring the deal then they should remove the offer from their website, but I think that anyone who has already applied should receive their games or equivalent games.

It would be a good idea for anyone, who has not received their games and been told that they will not receive any, to add a post.

Either way, even without the games it is still a good purchase for the system (providing they come back in stock at the £149 price). I think had the price been £200 or more then I'd probably have gone for a different system (maybe the Yamaha amp and speaker system) but at £149 it's a bargain.

Whoever got 2 lots of games must be very lucky :)

I did

I wrote on my application that this was a second system bought for my parents and received the two sets of games no problems. Applied within a couple of days of each other.

Pioneer are a reputable company I can't seem them denying the games if proof of a purchase is provided. Just in case I would add a statement like I did and state the second system was bought for someone else using the same address and card.

If they haven;t any games why would they still have it on their website?

Also, how is this system any different to a normal surround sound setup?
#33
Just to throw a spanner in the works, there are alternatives to this set in the form of the Yamaha AV59 (complete with component switching) and Logitech Z-5400 (similar specs by the looks of it). Do consider both before you stump up for this set, especially if the games offer has run out.

Me, I'm still deciding :whistling:

LOL actually if you read back it was you who started picking between the lines! I thought this banter was all tongue-in-cheek but obviously you have taken offence for some reason.

These forums are to help people find good bargains and have always been friendly forums with good banter. I think you need to lighten up a bit and not resort to insults.

The last thing the majority on here want to see, are these forums lowered to the levels of some of the other forums out there, which are full of childish insults and unnecessarily bad language.
