This comes in at £72.14 when you add delivery, will someone please amend the title.

Freezing cold for me, it's a **** make and not even widescreen. No doubt the bloody chimps that vote without checking first will make this stay hot though.

I prefer non-widescreen for monitors actually - more usable space.

I understand where you're coming from, you lose a smidge on the vertical with widescreen but If you need really long layouts you can rotate the display. I do this with my 22" LCD. Books, comics and websites just look fantastic. The res once rotated is 1050x1980 for me.

I'm definetly going to use this 22" I have now permanently in the portrait aspect once I get a bigger monitor to run normally with a horizontal aspect. Waiting patiently on 26"+ displays to drop in price.

Have a look at item no. 330314398509 on ebay (use as TV as well).

haha gotta love quotes like this.

what do you mean by "more usable space" ...... videos are widescreen. so widescreen makes better use of the space... if u have two things open widescreens means u can fit two side by side naturally like word documents ....

So do I, more screen available on a like for like basis, ie; 19" w/s has less visible screen than a standard 19" monitor.

Surfing and many applications are better suited to having a greater height in pixels than width. Not all video is widescreen either and full screen you are getting a smaller picture on a widescreen monitor trying to display 4:3 than you would on just a 4:3 display with equal horizontal resolution.

Having said all that I still prefer widescreen, as you say you can tile applications and it gives you much better horizontal real estate. Vistas sidebar makes sense in widescreen but is very awkward on a 4:3 display for instance.

Right now sitting on my desk I have a 22" widescreen and a 20" 4:3 monitor, the 20" is physically taller as far as the LCD panel goes. So I think its a valid choice whether you pick widescreen or not.

If you use your PC for watching Films DVDs etc widescreen is best. Reading PDFs on a Widescreen is a pain in the a***, I only read one page at a time - so each to their own. My TV is widescreen and I watch DVDs etc on that. Don't have a widescreen SatNav either and don't need one, as I don't watch DVDs on it

Does this one have the interface to connect with PS3 or Xbox360?

Standard aspect ratio is 4/3 giving a gradient of 0.75 whereas widescreen by their very nature result in a gentler gradient, typically a 16/10 aspect ratio screen has a gradient of 0.6. It is quite evident that standard aspect ratio screens with the same pixel sizes and same diagonal screen size have a larger desktop space than widescreen models. That is what mikerr was referring to so it's not as humorous as you have deemed it to be - so easy to laugh at others when one does not understand.

19" 4:3 is over two inches taller than a 16:9 monitor and 1/2 an inch taller than even a 22" widesreen. Plus greater screen area than a wide 19". Slightly shocking to realise that upgrading from a 15" monitor to a 22" monitor gains you only 0.3 inches of extra height!

With most monitors not rotating easily its worth thinking if you want the width. That said I know many people using vista on a 19" widescreen and they are perfectly happy. Nice to have wide email coumns. But I think manufacturers have pushed it because it lets them sell smaller monitors.

htp://www.silisoftware.com/tools/screen.php

19 4:3 height 11.4 area 173.4
19 16:9 height 9.3 area 154.16
22 16:9 height 10.8 area 206.68

thing is same can be said of tv's not so many years ago. Now its pretty rare to find a tv that isnt in the widescreen format. atleast the larger tv's don't come like that.

This suits films for sure. But films are shot like this as its matches your natural eye sight better (not perfectly)
Now monitors are all changing over to widescreen. And as such programs and websites etc will fit this format better and better as time goes on..

That said i have two 19inch widescreens so I have a ratio format of 32:9 :D
