Sorry if this sounds like I'm thick, but I'm a technofobe so i haven't got a clue really. :whistling:

Is this an LCD TV or is it a computer monitor? If it's an LCD TV then I'm buying it straight away. Could someone please let me know asap?

Thanks!

I got one of these from Micro Direct a few weeks ago.

Decent enough monitor, you need a DVI cable to get the best out of it. For some reason mine came with the colour 'temperature' maxxed out by default so it looked like an american cartoon. I changed it to 6500K and now looks much better.

No sign of any dead/stuck pixels.

It has built-in speakers but I haven't used them.

No, but the standard screen posted on here a while back is height adjustable, I have one and it is brilliant, I didn't want a widescreen one.

Voted hot great price :)

I got one of these from Ebuyer last week and love it! You're best turning the colour temp down and reducing your contrast to around 70 to get a better picture. Also voted hot.

isnt it possible to somehow connect a computer monitor to a freeview box?

I vaguely remember it being possible to attach an old style green screen monitor to a video and thus to an aerial feed. Picture looked wierd though, much like the opening titles of Blakes 7 if you can recall that.

Is this the same for CRTs? I have a 17" CRT standard and I'm wondering if I will miss the 0.88 inch less height. But I've heard CRTs are less high anyway. I measured mine to be around 9.7" high but maybe I measured wrong.

With a CRT you don't get the full size screen ie a 17" monitor will usually have only 16" viewable. This is because the edges are curved and will be behind the casing. This is generally not the case with LCD.
#34
thanks for the deal! been hunting for 19" deals for weeks now... finally made the purchase, didn't have to think twice :)

I understand that, but nevermind I've just figured out the viewable height. The formula Talkshop seems to have used is X /5 * 4 for width and *3 for height so I guess with a 16" viewable the width would be 12.8" x 9.6". That fits with the 9.7" I measured on my screen. I must have measured wrong.

So it seems a 19" widescreen is only 0.28 inches less high than a 17 inch CRT. I can live with that.

I am on the lookout for a 19" that accepts scart. But the offers that crop up on here never seem to have scart from what I can see :(

Hi, Regarding the morgancomputers.co.uk link, Can vouch for this particular panel being very good. Also sold at Argos (catalogue No. 529/1883) more expensive though. This has DVI-I and a SCART as you've said. S-Video connectivity included also.
