I've got one of these and for the price they are excellent. Has VGA, component, svideo, composite & scart connections making it great for rigging up the PC an Xbox 360 or whatever else.

Voted hot at this price...

I had a refurbished one from the ebuyer deal post on here a while ago.
Whilst the screen is great for scart and PC input, the inbuilt tuner is dire unless you live in a strong signal area. I have done side by side comparisons with 2 other TV's and this really struggles in comparison (one was a SONY and the other a cheap Nokia TV).

I also found the colour reproduction when playing some games a little bizarre in comaprison with my 2 year old 17'' AOC LCD screen. My advice is to try (at a shop) b4 you buy.

got this tv :-) great for 360 expecially through the hd componenet socket!

Gutted! Paid £250 for this about a year ago. Great Tv. I have my PS3, PC, Xbox 360 and PVR all hooked up to it. Displays games fine on the xbox 360 at 1080i. Amazing price. I know its a refurb but it has a 3 year warranty with it. Voted Hot.

I also bought a "Grade A" SM940 from ebuyer for £139.99 with free delivery. I'm very pleased with it. I haven't tried the analogue tuning as I run it from a Freeview box - something I would have thought most people would do.

great tv! recommend it to anyone really i havent had a problem with it at all.
#13
Seems a very good price especially given everyone's feedback (except for MD's customer service) - I'm mighty tempted to risk it.

Thanks for the post tara1082.

Voted HOT!

It's true, I find myself more and more amazed every day. :?
I looked it up and only 73% of the UK population currently can get a decent digital signal. So, I've been humbled and I promise to be more understanding of those less fortunate than myself.

any word on its ability to handle moving images?

Well if you don't have freeview, satellite or cable, you won't be watching tv in the very near future:p

i bought this a two months back for £158. Good price and well worth it. To be honest, the picture quality with analogue signal is really poor, but they say that in the manual. It's because the signals have to be converted or something. But i have my freeview box set up and the quality is first class. Plus this is HD ready. For that price you can't go wrong.

Price is excellent :)

Nice TV for the price and useful as a monitor too.

You mean as opposed to displaying jpegs.

I’ve been wary of replacing my Philips 15” CRT with an inexpensive LCD as I was concerned that the picture quality would be worse; I use it to watch Freeview 99% of the time and DVDs the rest. Any thoughts on how this would compare to a fairly decent 2 year old 15” CRT?
#25
Does that speaker underneath the screen work when you're using it as a PC?

Yes, I just checked the manual and it does; it even comes with an audio cable.

Stunning price, me and my dad have both got the 940MG (think it might be a slightly newer model) and paid £200 odd for them

Shame the backlight on mine's playing up now though, going to have to send it back when i get a chance, not sure if it's related to the scart or something but most times when i switch it on now there's no backlight so you can't see anything

The VGA and DVI are excellent quality, the only slight niggle is that there's only one audio input between them but my laptop's hooked up to a hifi so that doesn't matter. Got the PS2 on component, PC on VGA, macbook DVI, Virgin box on the RGB scart and can't complain about the quality, just a shame about the backlight as I say

The tv picture will arguably be worse than a 15" crt simply because of the signal you're using. Give it a hi-def feed and i'm sure it'd be great, i've got freeview on my laptop over DVI which looks a damn sight better than the virgin box, simply because the laptop's doing the upscaling

Judging by the number of stores selling refurbs of these it seems as if they are a poor design. I’d rather a good TV with a one year warranty than a dog with a 3 year warranty that spends most of its time at the kennel.

My SM940MW replaced a 15" CRT running Freeview and you'll be really amazed at how good this 19" wide-screen Samsung is in comparison.
There is one thing though that you should know. You really need to be looking at the screen face on (it's OK sitting to one side). The screen tilts BACK for when it's below you but doesn't tilt DOWN by more than a few degrees. I use it in the kitchen where it's on a worktop and when we sit at the kitchen table we're slightly lower than the TV. I put a very thin book at the back of the stand and that cured the problem. There's lots more information on the previous ebuyer thread (see www.hotukdeals.com/forums/showthread.php?t=86946&highlight=SM940MW).

Excellent timing as I was just going to place an order but as this is for a study and the seat is well below the TV table I’m going to pass on this. Phew, close call. I’ll leave you rep.

To anyone considering this, you might also want to consider this22" Widrescreen LG for £220 delivered. It's newer and it's wide screen so probabaly better for viewing movies.
#32
Often find that refurbed models are better than new, they return to the factory and have a full MOT, if there are parts that have failed and been identified they are put to bed. I have bought 2 Pcs from dell outlet and never had a problem my mate 2 new Pcs and both have had minor problems, video and sound card.
To offer a 3 year warranty they must have confiedence, normally you only get 1 year on refurbed models.

Does this monitor come with remote? Is it wall mountable? How good are the speakers? Wattage?

The Samsung is also widescreen and the LG costs almost 50% more. Hopefully it’s worth the extra money but it’s still a fair bit more cash.
#34
My flatmate has one of the LG's good for the xbox, but sound quality is very poor, this is a great deal, I'm just having trouble ordering it online, hope you can order over the phone

So it is. The old Samsung TV/Monitors were 4:3, didn't realise they ever updated the range.

I got this free with a phone contract. Its a good TV however I can't get a signal as my area is not a strong TV signal area.

Anyone got any ideas how to sort it while on the subject? How does a freeview box help can I ask?

Isn’t there a lot of distrust and bad feeling towards Saverstore with their relationship to the defunct Savstore! Otherwise if the warranty is also 3 years it sounds good. Just make sure you use a credit card.
#40
I've got bad feeling towards saverstore and/or savastore, but that's just because they slap a whopping great £20 surcharge for deliveries to Northern Ireland. I've never managed to find a price good enough to cancel that out and warrant buying something off them, so can't really say. Price does look better (if you're not from NI), that's all.
