be warned about scans warranty policy.

Care to elaborate?

Scans warranty policy? I've been shopping with them for years and had nothing but great service.

But that's one example from somebody who'd had a card for one year already, has only posted twice on the hexus forum and of whom we have no idea what happened between themselves and Scan as to the final outcome.

Like I say, I've had many years great service inlcuding the occasional RMAs.

eh? its scans policy. that's just one i picked, there are plenty out there.

I've bought plenty from scan before as well.

anyway its just something to note, if the card fails in warranty, you may end up getting only a partial refund with them deciding just how much to give. I know i would rather not take the chance.

just my two pence. bought a card from amazon back in nov 09, just a crappy ati hd 4550 gigabyte card. card failed the other week. called amazon, told them that gigabyte told me to speak to amazon. rep emailed me a returns label. got a full refund within 3 days and bought another card from them (this time i went for a better card).

some retailers are good, some are even better. have to rate amazon yet again.

not really sure if that guy had a case. he got a fair amount to replace a 9800 card.

heard nothing but good things about scan tbh.

the 768mb 460 cards offer better value than the 1gb ones at the moment. you can get them for £120 but were as low as £112 last week. hopefully they'll keep dropping though.

i hadn't heard anything bad about scan either until i was told by a friend of his warranty problem which mirrors the link i just plucked out of the air.

the point being that i buy under warranty expecting that if the card fails during that time that i will get a replacement or a full refund. Scan don't agree.
